I go for curse because I really like it when the transformee doesn't want to be transformed. Some but not all the fun is taken away if the victim enjoys it from start to finish.

I've done science-fiction theme with futuristic or alien technology to even potions, spells (and yeah curses), just about anything aside from the surgical option that is sadly the only option in real life for a male-to-female transsexual like myself. ^^;
