Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, I did, and it's.... oddity to most that don't know me makes me want to share it.
Woke up and went with my parents to go eat our traditional Thanksgiving lunch. Today it was the local Pakistani/Indian restaurant. The backstory of this tradition was when my parents lived in Little Rock, they would cook a big meal for all the EMS people they knew, and would feed a lot of people. When they moved up to this corner of the state it was very insular and no one came, so a large meal with only them and I (I wasn't even a year old then) was just so excessive, they had leftovers forever. Same with the next year. So the year after that, they decided to go look for a restaurant that was open. First place found was a Chinese restaurant in Joplin. Ever since then the family tradition was to go find a restaurant of foreign ethnicity (usually a Chinese buffet, but they started getting so Americanized that we couldn't find one open so moved to other ethnicities). Today was odd that we didn't have a buffet because the place didn't have it going for lunch which surprised us, but we had a wonderful meal that had us even getting some to carry out.
After that, we drove home the long way, looking at the lines at stores and generally just derping about. When we got home, dad napped, I gamed, mom read. Finally after that, and some chatting with family later, I went out to see my old college roommate where we sat and watched Big Bang Theory and got Taco Bell for dinner. On the way home I wandered into a few black Friday sales because there was no line to get in the door, snagged a couple things at cheap prices and waited because the lines weren't any longer than they were a normal Friday because I wasn't with the front rush.
Anyone who looks at this would see what looks like a completely normal and average day. And it was very much so. I would SO MUCH rather eat Indian food any day than a ham or turkey with gravy and stuffing. I like to hang out with my friends and I like some time with family and some time being left alone. To me, this is EXACTLY what Thanksgiving is about. Chill, don't panic, do the things you like. Live on.
Granted I was rather annoyed at the day for one thing. My job -could- have had me working and didn't schedule me. I could have done the traditional lunch with the schedule. I like to make up my thanksgivings on days where a lot of things are open and the choices are abound. XD This is the sort of personality you get when you are raised around jobs that don't get holidays.
TLDR: Thanksgiving = chill
