:P Note that I'm also a furry artist. There's a difference between heads LOOKING big due to snouts and heads BEING too big. Artists in this fandom have a major problem with the latter.
Well, I would look at influences. Many artists are influenced by anime or various other sources that emphasize over-sized heads. I used to be influenced a bit my Sonic the Hedgehog, and those heads are wider than the bodies. Dook me ears to work my heads down to a "proper" size.
Because clearly the 12th and 14th chromosomes become corrupt when forming with animal features, and therefor head-size is the compensation for the deformation?
oh oh oh,,,,lets not forget the chest, crotches, armes, stomaches(for the samiches), and the ever famous VAGS that can take a 12 foot long 1 foot thick PEENER. just sayin
Well yeah but those are specifically altered to suit fetishes or whatever. My beef with large head size is when it ISN'T intentional because it's just a little bit off rather than "yeah I stylized this to make it cute, so WHAT". Which is really often.
Ok, all joking aside. You are one of the few that make the head porportional. Why all the otheres make them big? As many reasons as artists, wish I could give a more enlightened answer.
Not just Sonic, but there's a long tradition of drawing large heads. I think it's about making more childlike proportions that trigger the child rearing instincts that make you go, "Awwww, that's cute."
Maybe, but I see it in more "realistic" / "srs" / "adult" stuff too. Idk I think what happens is that artists forget to relate the animal head back to the body once it's complete and see if it looks too big in proportion.
I do know some artists try to apply traditional proportion rules to anthros, and while the head may be the "right" number of heads high, with the muzzle and everything, it still ends up looking like too much head.
It happens from time to time with me, sometimes purposeful, sometimes not.
A lot of my sketches I'll even put in notes when I notice I made the heads too big, an arm in the wrong place, and other errors I made that could easily be fixed with the transform tool while inking.
But of course there are always times I don't catch it.
XD
The question is which series.
THAT'S DISCRIMINATION
CRIES IN CORNER
he also refuses to talk about it any further
big hats
One of my bros has that problem.
hehe
Awesome.
