Cigar Review of the Week: Cohiba Crystal Corona
12 years ago
General
Hey guys,
Another week gone by and
junowolf has another one
to give.
The Chohiba Crystal Corona
Knowing the Cohiba Co. and the history of the name being associated
with Cuba itself, there always has been a mention just for the name itself.
Someone mentions Cohiba, they think Cuban. Typical newbies. XD
Strength: Medium
Wrapper: Cameroon
Size: Corona 5 1/2 x 42
Origin: Dominican Republic
The Pre-light:
Coming out of the glass tube, I found the scent to be a bit of a bite
in spice but subtle and sweet. The wrapper however was a little dry and kind or brittle.
A few lumps and bumps here and there, but I could only wonder how the lighting would change that fact.
First Half:
The first part of the light was like the scent itself, a bit of a bite. As the first few puffs were drawn the flavor went from subtle to a bit dry.
It soon began to become a little imbalanced. I only hoped there would be a bit of a change in the halfway.
Half-way to Finnish:
It changed a bit to the point of a little bit of sweetness undertone. but then fizzled out toward the end. I didn't know how to put it out besides just dropping it in the ashtray confused.
Final thoughts:
I've had plenty of Cohibas in the time I've started smoking cigars. I've had plenty of Gold Labels, which is the most sought after
Cuban Brand Cohiba, it's nuts to know that it can be imitated to more fakes. The point being that if Cohiba can done to the point where there are
other blends to another point where counterparts are made just for the consumption of legal American purchases, I would have to question how the business is being
done. To just keep a pure brand name alive to where people use it as a common household name for any cigar? You'd have to try and keep up a reputation that really supports your heritage in the business that you run from then to now. I honestly believe sometimes the Cohiba label from one stick to another that is legal for American standards besides Cuban, should be as good the label perceives it to be. Also the price for my cigar was about $20 for just a little corona. I really can't think of any other words besides, what have you guys become? Monte Christo??? I mean they've been in the business for a damn long time, and they still hold up for they're blend , even with the sky rocketed price. It could be worse. They could end up like Ashton Cigars. *dies* Point being in a nutshell, the Cohiba label is one of the oldest Cuban brand names from then to now. If the label has a great name, it should have a great taste. Keep the positive flow going with the grand history. :3
Anyways that's it for this week.
If you have a review, just let me know. :3
