What's terrible is that Walker was so committed to helping others--when he died, he had just left a toy drive, and he was on his way to an event to raise money for victims of Hurricane Haiyan. He spent time in Haiti and Chile, as part of a team from REACT Worldwide (an aid organization Walker started to help victims of natural disasters) helping those effected by earthquakes in 2010.

Walker idolized Jacques Cousteau, even going so far as to major in Marine Biology, and he spent a lot of time working with oceanic researchers (he even did time on an expedition to study mating and migration habits of the Great White shark).

He was atypically humble and friendly for a celebrity, and it's a shame to lose someone who was willing to spend time in the trenches making the world better through his own actions...
