Skye's already reached her middle age in an average dog's lifespan. As she stands as a daughter to me in my heart, it is unbelievably daunting to know that she will not outlive me...
This is also a blessing as it is a curse. Though she may not be in my life for the better portion of my life, at least I will be in her life for the rest of her life. I can't begin to imagine how she'd feel if I were to disappear the next day. I've seen what happens to a dog when someone they loved disappeared. She was lost and depressed.Even if I had them show my dead body to her so she can register that I am truly gone, though it helps for the long term, I can't have her go through that. So it is a good thing that I will at least be there till the very end of her time in this world. Even if I'm going to miss her so much when she passes...

So all I can do now is continue to give her the life she deserves, so she can pass as happy as she is alive.
