So, part of my new attitude is a want to be more socially active within the local community. However, I just discovered my ex is back in NH and already active within the local area as well as her new partner who absolutely hated me even though we've never met. This is a pretty big deterrent for me wanting to be local primarily with the NH furs. Should I attempt to contact my ex and see if things are civil between us, or just leave it alone?
Definitely things like this from my past coming to haunt me that I wanna fix, but this is something not quite so fixable. Just continues to encourage me to start looking at moving a significant distance away and starting fresh.

It may be hard to think of things on a grander scale when it comes to people disliking you and possibly spreading rumors
My advice is to try. Show the community who you really are and let them form their own opinions of you despite to possibility of blackmail and issues.
Some of them may not know anything about you or you and your ex.
The most important thing is to be resolute in yourself and let people form their own opinions. Don't write them off before you try.
My suggestions still stand. When you let one person ruin a collection of potential friends, you never deserved them in the first place.
Be strong and be you.

I would love it if you came to some meets and such! When I make meets I like to make sure everyone is comfortable :)
