When I heard it was through I was sad because I wanted to make it up there one year! Glad to hear something else is being created :D

It would be nice to know why those in charge did not simply step down and let someone else take over, rather than folding the organization. It's not like other cons, just as old if not older, are always ran by the same people. They do indeed go through changes of leadership and even ownership.

The problem is, the convention didn't have time for that to happen -- the notification email to staff went out Friday, someone posted it on Saturday (it was a private email NOT MEANT TO BE POSTED PUBLICLY) -- and the whole thing burst into a ball of furry drama well before the announcement was supposed to be made and things would be decided.

The con chairs have their own private reasons for having to stop running the convention, and explain in their LJ post why the FurFright name will not be carried along with it.

Also, not all conventions operate the same way, just as not all businesses operate the same way! Sometimes, personal issues are more important than "doing it for the fans," and I think that was the case with this.

I know all the people I talk to who are involved with the now-unnamed Connecticut convention are going to make the new con the best it can be, and I've already volunteered myself to help with things in the Dealers Den, etc. We'll see what happens.
