Spoke Too Soon

I definitely spoke too soon about being able to catch up so readily in the game. I was able to pay rent but this was due to an error and dad took full advantage of that error which left us even way farther behind. He finally turned in his bank card after arguing with him for months, but only because he finally realized that instead of cleaning up the mess, he dug himself even deeper with his compulsive spending. I can salvage the damage still, but it's going to take longer and rather than sweat it out, I'm going to take my time and get ready to cushion the fall just before it happens.
I'm hoping he finally learned his lesson. I doubt it, so I'm still going through with other measures. I got stuff I need to finish before I start taking commissions again. If I can finally catch a break dealing with all of this, I'll be able to stream. I keep hoping, but I haven't been due to the garbage dumped on me since October. Then there's a new monkey wrench. Dad goes in for surgery some time before Christmas. We have appointments out the ass because they're trying to get him all cleared out before he goes in.
This surgery is a Laminectomy. They're basically going to carve out his upper spine throughout his neck to clear the major damage caused by a garage door that broke his neck six years ago and add cushioning to the bone. Missouri dropped the ball and let it go stating "Oh at your age you're gonna have aches and pains". The VA of Lubbock who had originally started citing this changed their tune when they had a clear look at the damage.
Needless to say, Missouri is responsible for a lot of shit, and the Lubbock VA even told me that the whole situation with his neck, the stroke and the medications Missouri had him on is why he's really addled. From what I'm also being told, this is a side effect that the surgery will correct. We'll see, but until then I have to remind dad that I don't want him to even breathe a dime until this mess is straightened.

I hope everything works out for you in the end. I'll be keeping you and your dad in my thoughts and prayers. And don't worry about my commission. I can wait until things get better for you.
I am at a loss at how he keeps fucking up like this

OP
I'm hoping the doctors are right and that his stroke coupled with his broken neck and bad chemistry of pills and medications were the source of it all. That was among the first things they did was change up his medications when we got here. He still has flashes of stupidity in major steps, but I've made the observation it's not as constant as it used to be. Still, it's vastly triggered by old memories and names from the past which is probably where scam artists are the most effective with suggestion.
