Everybody's heard of Cookie Monster, but did you know that there used to be a Cookie Bear? He made frequent appearances on the old Andy Williams variety shows of the sixties. Here's the cookie-loving bruin in one of Andy's Christmas specials.
Andy plays Scrooge -- and yes, that's Jimmy Durante as Scrooge's conscience. I remember watching this sketch on TV when it was first run back in December of 1969. I was amazed at how much of it I could recall, over 40 years later!

The whole thing was delightfully hammy and generally a treat, but I couldn't help but think that the Cookie Bear, the Cinnamon Bear and the Cookie Monster all needed to get together at a bar and start a joke. ^.^
"Hey-ey-ey! Why settle for just one cookie -- when I can show you how to get a whole pic-a-nic basket full of goodies?"
