Waaaah!? FA is working again...what now?

Ever since last year ive been wanting to try and migrate to Weasyl. So I'm gonna take that opportunity now to try and make that community grow and not leave my watchers in the dust. Im tired of people apologizing for this site. and I want to bring attention to a better offering to people. Every time FA goes down, the apologists come out with "Its a free site, quit bitching" or "its your fault for putting all your base on one site" or other stuff. I agree, people shouldn't be on just one site, but the free site excuse is complete Bullshit. There are tons of other free sites out there. Deviant art is free, SoFurry is free, ink bunny is free, Weasyl is free. Yet They at least have the drive to improve itself and stay up to date. FA REFUSES TO. Its not that they can't (if something was possibly holding them back other than sheer incompetence I would be forgiving), They flat out just WONT.
This isn't a "Hey GUYS, im leaving FA!" so much as a migration. I will be moving things over while posting newer things there. I love the community and I want it to give weasyl some more love. the reason why I had trouble with migrating to weasyl before was because there was just no community yet. I just hope that people come and give it a chance. I have weasyl , So should you! Its open! its free! and its pretty sleek! there are applications that can help you find the artists you like too! http://projects.weasyl.com/soft/. You don't HAVE to leave FA, Im NOT abandoning my base, I want to make a new one thats up to date and wants to Improve. I will keep FA up to date on Commissions and auctions and other opportunities for folks to get art from me.

Myself, as much as I'd like to try out Weasyl, I've got a ton of stuff to catch up on that is FA-related before giving it a shot. Trying to do multiple things (making and keeping track of multiple accounts) at one time for different art sites would likely slow down progress and focus on my own end of things.

But by all means, continue to get upset because you won't be able to get your porn on. It just makes you look like an overly entitled fan. Instead of having a fit, maybe you should give Weasyl a try. It doesn't take long to make an account, and add that one guy. And if you like the place, there are tools to help you find your friends here, and even migrate your art.

I am on inkbunny too, and on Sofurry... Yet I never neglect the basement i have on here. That's all. And the most I find it kinda unfair to leave a free site after the same people made money with it over all the time... I also don't like the downtime.. But that happens even on -to pay - pages!! Dammit. And it makes Daigo look like only up for money instead of sharing his artistic nature if he is so - friendly - to let us still know when he is up for commissions but not posting new art on here.
I also make a bit of money by Fa but.. when Fa may have hickups - I just contact my customers by E-MAIL. Yeees. There is something like that... Come on.. this is a multimedial world
There is a lot more wrong with FA than the significant and highly visible downtimes. A lot of security issues, a lot of UI problems. The site has been slow for the better part of a year, and has been unresponsive with regularity almost daily even from a good connection close to the sever. Their are lots of reasons why someone would choose another site over FA. The only thing FA has going for it is that it is the de-facto site and so everyone is there and that is hard to ignore. Someone has to be the trailblazer and the trend-setter!
one reason to not migrate for me is that some of my watcher and favourite artists are here. some there.. and some nowhere else... and as said. those sites will also face issues.. I would bet on that.
Though I do have a bone to pick with with the "those sites will also face issues" . Of course they will. thats like having an old car that keeps breaking down and Not getting getting a new car because it will have problems in the future. I have more confidence that things will be fixed and changed for the better. ( I know a car isnt free, but the point is not the moving onto new and better things because "there will be problems in the future" kind of mentality)
So dont feel too sad about this. Ill still be here. just slower when it comes to art
... Weasyl really won points by replacing their old "compose" system with the Google+ Docs thing. Makes it so much easier not only to upload stories and have people read them, but also to edit them on the fly. SO MUCH BETTER. GAWD DAMN, SO GOOD.
So, yes, you win.
They just don't know what up to date is.
FA has had numerous offers from people wanting to help the site and or update it , but get rejected.
The only reason people come to FA is because people come to FA. And I'm sure you've seen how Dragoneer reacts to other people starting furry sites as well, even though his is... waaaaay outdated.
Either way, watchin' you on Weasyl now. :D
