What kinda fur is Santa Claus?

I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus...wait...the real Santa Claus?! I knew mommy was a veteran but that's...seriously high level stuff!
And yet I have no idea. We all have an imagination and ideas...what would Santa Claus be to furs here?
Me, I imagined a polar bear, kinda like Iorek from "The Golden Compass..." Strong, honorable, but above all, kind and protective, and very wise. But that's just me. Others may have their own ideas as to a phenotype...or a lack thereof. Or maybe Santa's true form is humanoid, but can shapeshift to comfort the children he knows.
I'm curious as to the opinions of others.

It's simple he's a fox, but not any fox, a Kitsune, I mean they even say he has magic and kitsune has magic so he must be a kitsune!

I think his normal form is a polar bear but he can change to match what the little furs like and beleave. That and for the furs that live in the water that would help for those that are really far down.
