For a Lot of people, This was the last straw with FA.
They can't handle "all the down time" and the site "never working" and they're moving other to some of the less populated, but equally good sites to try them out.
That's fine.
But just saying..
those who are badmouthing and ditching FA altogether ... it just seems a little petty to me.
This site is free
Ad supported
and the ads are all things that are relevant to our collective interests...
not to mention that they stay in the corners, well-behaved and silent!
This site has had 2 (count em) TWO ROM down-times in the passed year (and I can't remember more than one before it) having used this site for years now and collectively MORE than any other social media site (I'm including my phone's general use for Christ sake!... ) well... let's just say I'm on FA a fucking LOT
And I've experienced 80-90% up time... not being harassed while still doing damned near anything i want and saying what i want...and actually enjoyed the UI tweaks to the point that i don't rightly give a shit if they never change them... It's intuitive and easy to navigate.
All for free... not being asked for a damned penny!
Now their servers crash (understandable since we bombard it with porn every day) ... and they don't have a proper server administrator being as that's not their forte' ) and still they don't ask for money... they just get a new system and port it over... is the site shut down? NO
They just make it in-editable for a while while they keep it stable and up to date. (so.. yeah, thanks for letting us still navigate whats already here... )
now people are blaming them for this unforeseeable destruction of their server and blaming the sites instability.. (never-mind our gluttonous use of the thing.. with as many users as hairs on any given thousand furs' asses!) could it be improved? sure... did the week suck? maybe a little.. is it enough reason to get all bitchy and whine like they owe you that week back? Fuck NO
Grow the fuck up and realize sometimes people got shit to deal with same as you.
They may piss some people off. (oh wahh the admin took down your SL snapshot because you somehow think it's photography. or maybe they have morals you don't agree with and even though it's very easy to never ever interact with them.. you got banned for going onto their page and disagreeing!) But the people who run this site, flaws and all.. do it without asking you for fucking money. (at least me...) and now because of one of 2 outages in a year, you're going to damn the site, scream (unstable!!!) and (Unusable) and jump ship... fuck you get out!
It's not like people couldn't track you down.. your page was still functional.. if you rely on FA for business to live.. well good luck i wish you well (no sarcasm, i respect your plight and when i can help, i will!!!! no judgment there) but if you make that your bread and butter and you don't have a SINGLE backup plan to make sure people can contact you (how about putting an email on your page!!!!!!! since you know they can still fucking SEE IT!) then you just aren't cut out for the business world, art or otherwise! (never limit your connections to your clientele! That's your own fault!)

Now, if you want to give weasyl a try? go for it! It looks pretty good. I like it, the interface is a bit wonky and I'll adjust.. i don't have much up but it's not bad!
Sofurry and inkbunny are okay too but i don't go onto them much anymore. There's nothing wrong with expanding your direction! and if you take to one and forget to check your FA.. that's nobody's business. if you delete your FA.. who cares? it's okay.. nothing wrong with any of that.
But dont you dare sit there and just stomp off of FA in a huff...not really caring where you're goin' long as it "aint here" Because they had a server failure.. That's just idiotic. It's like changing electric companies because a storm knocked out power all over town... as if the other isn't prone to the same ...
What do you think will happen when any other site reaches this capacity and is constantly up for years at a time while archiving and backing up everything?
All I'm saying is.. go where you want. I encourage it.
But stop bitching because a free site you've been on for years just up and had a problem for a week...it's stupid... stop it..

If I could, I'd make sofurry my main site but I think that's because I like the people there and I like that it seems more balanced for writers and musicians and not just art- also got way more depth from the commenters there, but this is where the people are. :] I also liked that people added my work to group pools at SF too and I get to see that they did that. Organization is awesome.
That said, I think that a large reason the other sites have so few problems is that they don't have as much traffic.
(Though that's not to say plenty of them aren't better coded. I haven't seen the source code)
I Started on sofurry, but i can't keep up with it as well :P
Though i met my wonderful friend Tannon on SF so I can't hate on it :P!
