Sure it sucks that FA was down for a week, but as far as site performance goes it seems to have been for the best for now! FA seems much more zippy to me, loading up pages instantly again and all that jazz~
I have found all the folks who are raging and threatening to leave or boycott FA to be quite silly, especially since many of those people probably never paid a single cent toward the site~ FA's service has never been a guaranteed thing. We all know it's just some pretty regular dudes who run the site. Considering the traffic to this site, the fact that it's not covered in crazy unrelated ads is pretty impressive when you take in to account the fact that FA is only ever down once or twice a year. Usually that downtime is less than a day. Whether you like the way it is run or not, the fact that it runs as well as it does most of the time is pretty cool.
And to those complaining that the site setup is super old and lacks some features that would be convenient, I would be happy to agree. But being honest they don't have a whole lot of incentive. Spending the time and energy to make the site more modern or to integrate new features into it would be taxing. And then everyone would still complain about it. Sure it could be better, but it could be tons worse too.
And back to the downtime, in regards to those who may have lost business time due to the outage, it sucks, yes, but that's what keeping your contact details up to date is for. FA was in read only mode 99% of the down time, which means anyone who may have needed to get into contact with you about any business you started before the downtime would have access to any contact details you had listed before hand. Just saying, you guys should cover your asses a bit better before it's too late. I mean, it doesn't do a whole lot of good to make your alternate details better known after the problem has passed. They will just be burred under a thousand journals again before the next problem hits. X3

FA is and likely will remain the Facebook of the fandom for a good long while. Whether that's a good or bad thing is debatable X3 Either way, I stay simply because this is where everyone else is. I don't see that changing unless their entire server base melts down and basically everyone's galleries are wiped out.
