A long-time public-domain Holiday cartoon that dates back to 1948:
This is almost a scene-for-scene remake of a 1942 MGM short called "Chips off the Old Block" -- the only real differences being that the main character in the latter is a cat instead of a dog, and it isn't Christmas in this one:

Imuch prefer the MGM Version. A lot snappier,and less message bludgeoning. (though in German? this kind of points out why Tom & Jerry were so popular Internationally. No language problems).
Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 was featured in Friz Freleng's "Rhapsody in Rivets." And while the composition has been used in countless other cartoons, no other has involved a construction scene. Usually it's some sort of piano recital or band concert that goes horribly awry whenever this is played.
