I got a sandbox for the ferrets so they could satisfy their digging needs. Here we see Chili, the older ferret estimated age six years, giving it a go.
I wasn't really sure if either of them would have played in the sand to begin with, but now that I know they will I plan on getting a bigger and deeper box. I might even get some PVC tubing to bury in the sand so that they can find tunnels. :3
Their average lifespan is six to nine years but some have lived up to fifteen. Chili was starting to decline in health until we started feeding him live mice. Now he is spry and always on the prowl for mice.
Interesting. I had no idea that would prolong their lifespan. My mate and I are both feeding our seven dogs raw meat and their h ealth has improved significantly.
I guess I know virtually nothing about this species, but now that I am out of Colorado and in a more comfortable living situation I might take up studying them for curiousity sake.
