This is usually considered the main one. InkBunny is for hardcore furry-related art, and it also allows cub, which is why most people go there. SoFurry used to be YiffStar, and is a site primarily focused on stories. As for Weasyl, I have no idea what that place is like. If I recall correctly, it was made recently?

Weasyl seems to be an all-purpose site like DeviantART, and has a specialized submission form for Original Characters/sonas, and is a bit harder on commission re-uploading - which while commonplace on FA/DA, they have special rules on when you can and cannot upload something you commissioned someone to do for you.


It was made pretty recently and I like it quite a bit, even if it is a bit... Quieter... Than FA and DA in terms of comments and favorites :)

No, it just some sites do need a full staff to run them so they can be big like DA, FA, ETC. Without they aren't as big, Storm-Artists is small and doesn't have an around the clock staff like DA and FA, not to mention it's really small too.

None of these websites are run by a professional, full-time staff. They cannot afford it like other larger sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, or Pixiv. Because there is not a full-time staff, people become unhappy when changes and features are not made or introduced, and so they decide to make a 'better' site. FurAffinity is by and large the most popular, but it could be improved in terms of features.

I think so too. FA will be a better site if staff have many funds for web server and labor costs.

The other problem with sites like this is that, when your labor is free, you seek 'friends' to do the coding, even if someone else who is not a friend, but might still work for free, is a better programmer. The site is very inefficient with its database it seems, but yes, they need a much heftier content delivery network and bandwidth, but that costs more than they can afford.

I think with Japanese websites it's because there's less of a schism? Like, uploading furry stuff to Pixiv isn't a big deal, but being a furry on say, DeviantArt will actually draw you a lot of negative attention often times.

Furry art is negative art to common people?

To americans, yes, because americans are stupid. Yes, the stereotype is true, americans are more often than not, stupid, sadly. In Canada and Europe it's a lot more generally accepted without any type of social consequences, they're smart enough not to care. But because of this social schism sites like FA/Inkybunny/SoFurry/Weasyl exist, because there needs to be a place for furries to gather without having to deal with all of the drama brought by stupids.

In Japan, furry art is generally more accepted, from my experience when I lived there, aannndd the main art site, Pixiv, sees a lot of furry art, but it's not negatively recieved, mainly because furries are in quite a lot of manga and anime, so it's not unfamiliar, so it's not treated as different and strange and bad because people are used to seeing it. and because Japan is generally fine with porn of EVERYTHING, including furry porn, it's taken more as "Oh, look, more porn." rather than how it is in the U.S. where the media goes "OH GOD IT'S PORN OF ANIMALS BEASTIALITY EVIL THE WORLD IS ENDING".

Well...great furry art are not only porn.
I like transformation art such your art, cute art and simple art than porn.
I like thinking new ideas that other people still haven't do, and drawing my original art.

I didn't say that there isn't furry art that is good, but when it comes to the focus on a community, people, the direction usually goes towards the porn, and I'm talking about the reaction to a fandom/community that people generally have in Japan/U.S. In the U.S., it's highly negative, whereas in Japan it's not so much.

The furry community overseas sometimes splits up which results in different sites. Some people go to different websites from Furaffinity because they are not pleased with how the site runs. Usually this doesn't long and they eventually return ;^P

Finding good art is difficult for me on Pixiv. My favorite art is not many.

Well, a lot of furry art is seen as bad or porn, even when it's not...as for why there aren't many in Japan, I don't know; I figured they would be just as popular! Especially cute art.

There are a lot of art gallery sites in the US! One reason is because sometimes one site won't put up features that other sites have. Another reason is because the people who run them get a lot of attention and most people in the US want attention.

There's a social stigma against being furry in the English-speaking world for some reason. I have no idea why, but furries and people who make furry art are often ridiculed and harassed so they feel the need to make their own safe sites for their art. Things like fursuits and cosplay are also extremely frowned upon. I suppose these things are more accepted in Japan?

I know that U.S and Europe etc... regulates more severe about expression than Japan.
I don't like cosplay so much but I can accept they also is one of free expression.
