Source engine games are very low-end by modern standards. If you can run basically any big-name PC game released since 2006, you can probably run L4D2.

Okay, well theres only one way to find out is to get steam and make an account I guess

If your computer is running windows 7, more than likely it's going to be able to run L4D2 just fine, considering there is absolutely no point in having windows 7 unless you have a high end dual core or a quad core processor, otherwise you'd just run Windows XP if you had a junk heap.

I do have windows 7 with a AMD Athlon II X2 Processor. so it should run, right?

Min specs are for L4D2 are...

CPU: 3.0 GHz Pentium 4.
RAM: 1-2 GB.
GPU: 128 MB ATI 9600, nVidia 6600 or higher.

So yeah, you should be able to run it without issues.

I think I got it. If you can load the steam client just type in the search for the game and click on install. It will put it into your account. Steam's probably very slow because of that now. Thanks for the heads up on the free game
