wow that was indeed cool great illousion with a camera, but using nakid eyes the depth of field would probally be noticible.

The biggest problem as I see it would be the ears. Maybe you should try it initially with an otter - which has closely cropped ears. Also, it appears that perfect bilateral symetry between left and right half helps the illusion. Lastly, the scale pattern also seems to help.
