Something is not working correctly within you harddrive, for you to receive a message like that.

If you are careful enough, you could remove and open up your laptop, and try to re-seat the cable connecting to the hard drive.

it is tough to do, but you have to also make sure not to have any static electricity built up as well.

I know because I am a computer tech for Staples, and this kinda stuff is what we deal with.

It could be that your OS is corrupted. If you have a friend with a computer and a CD burner, you could download and burn a copy of Hiren's Boot CD (available at http://www.hirensbootcd.org/hbcd-v152/ ). It has a very large selection of tools, including several for recovering data from an unbootable hard drive. If you use HBCD to back up your important data to a flash drive or a USB hard drive, you can safely restore to the factory image because your stuff has all been backed up. I would try using some of the boot repair tools in HBCD first, though, since repairing it is easier than restoring and having to copy all of your stuff back. Back up your files first, though, in case something goes horribly wrong down the road!
