Krita And Other Adobe Alternatives
Recently I've been looking into Adobe alternatives due to their cloud decision. I've used Gimp before and it's ok but I've been looking at a program called “Krita” which kind of crosses photoshop with Painter. So far the program is interesting and it takes some getting use to, but if you've seen my recent submission then you can see that it's works fairly well. I've yet to figure out a good way to save Jpg files but Png files seem to work ok.
Here's a link the Krita website - http://krita.org/
There are a few other programs I plan on trying out, one being Blender, which from what I hear not only does 3D but also does video editing. Though the real challenge has been finding a free Flash alternative, I've yet to look into Synfig and Stencyl but they may be an option.

Oh, I'll have to try Krita on some of these newer PSDs with layer grouping that GIMP doesn't like.

Sadly, GIMP's PSD handling seems to be way better.

For video editing I'm using Kdenlive these days. Development has been a bit slow lately, and I've not tried it under Windows. Mind you, I didn't know Krita worked on windows either.

OP
I think Krita didn't until recently. If Kdenlive works in Windows I may give it a try, Though from what I've seen of Blender's video editing it looks like it may be something I can use. I don't do too much video editing so it's last on the program test list anyway.
