*Sigh* Oh well, what can you do.

I'm too paranoid to actually search for they keywords but about a week ago I watched a news report on a guy who could basically make explosives out of things found at the stores found past the security checkpoint. All of this stop and search stuff is just getting everyone comfortable with arbitrary stop and search.

That's so cute, honestly. I'm not saying that because I have a boyfriend who's soon to be working for them, but honestly, those men and women go through a lot to make sure we're safe, and I'm sure as heck glad our flights that we had were safe when we left this past week.

It's nice they did that for kids to realize it's all for safety.

I go through the same here in Canada when boarding the plane, i've pretty much gotten used to it.

Here's the thing, and maybe it's because I'm such a grey-muzzle, but if you're not hiding anything, why do I care if they look through my stuff? I have nothing illegal, and if they're embarrassed, that's on them, not me.

I worked airport security pre-9/11 and it was still a hassle, more so after.

Hassling everyone is one of those "equality of outcome" things. Rather than profile, treat everyone as a suspect. Feel up little old ladies and the disabled. What a country. The Israelis are better at dealing with such security issues. But will we ever consider adopting their methods? Are you kidding? That might make sense.

"Guilty until proven innocent" is a phrase that comes to mind. Until you submit to a metal detector gate, wand, and/or digital imaging "full-body-scan", you are presumed to be guilty.

The terrorists have won.

Can't say I'm surprised or dismayed. Personally I've yet to hold a grudge against the TSA; we ask for and expect security in our travels yet seem surprised when this results in more and more interference to our routines. I'm not shocked that the TSA can't meet these expectations through the causal observation that many seem to expect them to draw the line at.
