Critical thinking! "What makes porn hot?"
General
got an assignment for all you furries out there. I want to know what you guys think makes an image hot? I am not talking about what fetish you may or may not have I actually want you to take a few of your favorite pictures and REALLY study them. come up with a whole bunch of examples of why you consider one image sexy over another of similar quality and subject matter. is it curvature, highlights, expressions, etc etc.
for example. I noticed awhile ago that I found images where a character's butt and or naughty bits seemed a bit shiny, to be more enticeing. so I but a lot of highlights into most of my naughty art.
additionally I found when a character had a slight red blush like tint to there naughty areas the image seemed hotter to me. so I replicate it in my own work
I want you guys to really think hard about this, what subtly details about an image turn you on and make the image rank far higher in your mind? come up with some good ones and I may just use them in future projects :3

I read lots of adult furry comics, some of which are from the East and are in Japanese. In addition to blushing, shine, and certain perspectives (first person point of view always gets me if done right <3), something that I love to see in art is action lines. Just, whenever a lot of emphasis is put on something, be it a character stripping and revealing their naughty bits, someone pitching a tent in their pants/underwear, or even the 'climax', action lines drive the point home for me. Hard to explain the exact appeal to it, but it's one of those little, subtle details that makes a big difference.
If someone else likes them like I do, I'm sure they can explain it better. Hoped that helped a little, though. =o
- Quality. Even if the pose is good, a drawing in MS paint by someone who cant draw for shit wont make it hot
- Details such as facial expressions!
- Characters. Needs to be hot characters<3
(not in any specific order, I think they are all required for something to be really hot<3)
Posing and anatomy are also important.
I suppose it's the difference between what is called "amateur" pornography, as opposed to "professional".
The latter is about as realistic as a plastic tit, and so garners no emotion. For us at least.
Lol, I do agree with your thought of blush and shiny. I think the expression is one of the most important parts. If they look in ecstacy then its good, if its them looking 'meh' or doofisy then its not good uncles its meant to be funny.
but everyone has different taste really
I truly like passion, only the ones participating matter.
Blush, light blush on shy characters.
i really like images with some emotion or passion or even some sort of story behind them, not just sex for sex's sake. it just seems like some artists draw boring unimaginative images for whatever reason.
but yeah, nothing turns me off more than a boring pose and bland facial expression.
Facial expressions: blushing where appropriate can fit into this, but the sense that something is physically and/or emotionally intense.
Juices: This varies by the artist and audience's taste in realism, but as a straight guy there's something intensely arousing about a female character being -very- wet. One of the hottest pics I can think of off hand combines facial expressions and wetness: Dark Nekogami drew it, and it featured the female version of his character in a classroom environment with a bullet vibe lodged in deep for the long haul, showing his character -trying- to keep a calm face and failing while utterly -soaking- their lower body. Not always realistic, but very hot.
Arousal: This one's tied to the last two, but when you get right down to it, desire is in and of itself desirable.
What always is important is to see something new! New poses! Sceneary! Characters and so on :o
The first thing for me are the expresiveness of faces and gestures, when it looks like they are really really really enjoying themselves or/and they reallyreallyreally want you in
Rolling eyes, bitting own lips, blush whether sutile or intense, a look between innocent and mischievolous, a body language that says either "I NEED it" or "I' ll CLAIM it", all those are intense turn ons
An ahegao ("fucked silly" face) itself can make for any graphic display off camera. Feet fingers twisting, hands clinging to a mattress can top any visual of humping and penetration (not like you can´t combine all those in the same pic )
Second is probably the situation: does the picture tell a story, are there background modifications? Is it sudden passional sex with clothes half removed, is it tender sex or one of those almost-rapeish-but-enjoyin-it-anyway porn sex scenes? Is it an enormous male that really need to be taken like a little bitch, a girly boi that well, need to be taken like a little bitch, a well gifted male that need his member shinned thakyouverymuchhereisyourtip?
Hoew much one can deduce from the mere image, are the guys casual related, friends, lovers, what is their mood, which are their tastes...? Will they appreciate help? Is the viewer interrupting a scene, joining the scene, is the scene being done for the viewer´s enjoyment, is the viewer an stalker or an invisible presence?
Thirdth is the anatomy itself, how well is represented, if there are not blatant inaccuracies that will disrupt your fantasy flow. For some people, broken anatomy is an instant turn off, others can shrug it off and concentrate on the concept, for others it vaies from time to time. It also depends if the fetichs represented is anatomically possible or not. But there is no doubt that a basic knowledge of anatomy and good aesthetics helps whether you like your porn toony or realistic.
Fourth, and i am surprised no one mentioned it here, is how the picture translates to other senses. How good can you imagine the soft fur will feel, things rubbing things, tight places to be stretched, does the body looks fragile or strong, what does it look like that the other thing will taste, how does it smell, what is it' s temperature, will it be warm inside there, will be slippy? Do you feel like squeezing parts, does that hard thing looks like it will rub every nerve in your nethers in a good, pleasurable way?
And fifth well, the visual of asses and penises always do the trick for me nonetheless
Besides for it being part of what makes me, me, I've seen in general women tend to like written porn vs visual porn.
as for why we like either, its the stimulation of our libidos that we enjoy :3
certain erotica is more enjoyable over other erotica if its well written, no typos, good structure, not repetitive, large vocabulary (but not a damn thesaurus lol) also i find the hunt and the teasing and the turning on the better part of the novel
but again this isnt quite what you were looking for, dunno if it helps at all X3
blushes, because a shy character blushing just drives me wild
fur detail. it is really hard for me to describe how this does it, but a perfect example of how i like fur to be done is the way Ruaidri does it
teasing, strategic cover, because sometimes having certain bits covered in a teasing manner is hotter than the most hardcore porn
Well let's say you would need to make not just curves to make a drawing hot, also not just hard muscles, it's a mix of everything, at the right place, curves are where you need curves and hard/straight shapes are when you don't need those curves, maybe it's a bit too complex too explain.
But I believe what makes it good is if the artist knows what he is doing, and doing what he likes, not what he thinks people will like. Also, shading helps a lot with making it feel more real, the more real the feel, the more their imagination runs while looking at the drawing.
Now talking about aspects like a blush you said, it's also a matter of knowing when to use, if you abuse if and use it everytime not thinking of the situation or what the character would be feeling, you're not trying to be real, if the people looking at the draw can look in it's eyes and feel how would be if they were in the character's place, it's when the magic starts. This feeling can be totally denied if something seems too unrealistic or forced, so pay attention more often to little details like this.
Cum effect, blush at the right places (remember from where blush comes, it's related to blood circulation and feelings), a good and real expression, anatomy specially, really helps on achieving what you may be looking for. So spending time practicing and trying to change/make better versions about what I just mentioned is not a huge sacrifice, you would naturally do it anyways, it would just depend on the time you would realize those aspects and the time you would start trying them out, or maybe a comment you read :p
And oh of course, there is a lot of things you can abuse, like size, amount of cum, amount of blush, ultra deep things. But it's all about fantasy anyways isn't it? But most of them don't affect me and some other people, really, I think a good and detailed anatomy turns me on haha :P quality and a lot dedication on that finished piece then? gee <3 But I'm just an artist, and that's what I think sometimes. ;)
