My thoughts on the Dr Phil Show featuring us

*stands on soapbox and clears throat*
I keep hearing the buzz about the Dr Phil Show. And all I hear is either cries to Uncle Kage to speak for us or other furs saying "Don't go on the show". Latest static, if you can call it that, is Evil Sibe is going to be on the show, and as sure, it's creating it's own little stewpot of drama. we as members of the fandom define ourselves and how the general public sees us. We speak through the actions of what we do- either publically or even privately. We needn't rely upon one person such as Uncle Kage to defend or to speak for us. We shouldn't be secretive either, since that leads to the public into thinking and assuming what goes on. And then it leads to sensationalism that can creep into the thoughts of worst-case scenarios.. as a friend told me a couple years ago "..It's how you treat yourself and how you treat others that defines you in this fandom.." I know the general public is curious as to what we do privately, but do they really need to know that? The public needs to realize we dont want to know what they do either. It's none of our business nor theirs, and they should realize that.
I really wish I could do the show, but my weakness is in dealing with the public not very well and furiends telling me NOT to, my strength comes from my writing and my heart. We have to start standing up for ourselves, TOGETHER AS ONE. BE an example of what we want the public to see us as. We give to the communities, Help bring smiles to everyone all over the world. Doesnt mean we air the dirty laundry either, but show ourselves being proactive members of society. By not being stupid in destruction of private or public property as I have seen in years past (won't enumerate those acts here, as we mostly are aware of what has been done, no need to re-hash). So let's do something about this, stand up together. Not let one person speak for the thousands of us, either the good or the bad. This is no secret that should be hidden from the world..
*gets off soapbox*
People should chill out.
