I sketch.
Twice.
Then trace it through onto another page using a window and make it pretty.

I suppose so.
however with time I got a bit of a quality over quantity complex haha

yes thats the biggest plus to that, so im always in awe when i see really detailed drawings !

I haaaate sketching cause whenever I do, it never looks right. I just put a shitton of paint and either erase/build up over it.

For a digital piece I do a gesture sketch, a volumetric sketch, then one with details/clothes etc
But if it's traditional I do a bunch of thumbnails beforehand as well, to work out composition.
I like sketching ehehe. I wish I could do direct work, but I'm usually unhappy with the result :(

damn i was never good at gesture sketching, i think because i like things to look as stiff and awkward as possible

Well, the flip side is that I had an art teacher that drilled into me the "right way" to do things, so then I spent years held back by fear that I would do things the "wrong way."
So I'm jealous of the people who didn't have to deal with that ┐(´－｀)┌

im really glad that i havent had that... but when i had just started going on the internet all i did was rehash whatever was popular so that didnt really help, that was me going backwards for a while

Ah yes, the regurgitation phase. Many a young artist suffered through that stage… At the very least, it teaches you the consequences of not following your own ideas.
