Hello friends. I'm heading to Japan for a while in my search for new tastes and cooking experiences.
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for places to visit/things to try!
I'll be there for three weeks, and I'm definitely open to ideas!

b) Depending on your budget, maybe try the place from the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi? Reservations are hard to come by, I understand.
c) I've always heard Osaka is the place to go for food lovers in Japan.
d) Try an original Yoshinoya if gyudon is your thing. They are basically fast food, but delicious. Have fun!
I'm gonna eat up all the fishies!!!
Real ramen. The proper stuff. There's places all over that serve it, and a good bowl is fucking amazing.
There's these little round cakes you get at convenience stores, I think they're called Steam Cakes or something like that. They're goddamn delicious and I have no idea where to find them in the states. Also, Milk Tea is pretty good too.
As for places, Akihabara is a pretty awesome place to shop for nerd stuff, or Harajuku if you prefer clothes.
Try an onsen, if you can. Tis a pretty rare experience.
I'll check out those steam cakes. I wanna eat everything!
Akihabara... I'm not much for clothes (dressed in rags as we speak) but I definitely wanna do some shopping while there!
Another thing you might want to try is the Japanese take on various other countries' food. It's definitely an interesting experience, and some of it is surprisingly good. Pizza, steak joints, even McDonalds is worth a visit over there.
I'm even bringing him some hometown spices as a gift! I can't wait to try all the foods there!! :D
Have heard of bird cafes as well ;>
Safe travels!
If you message me an address, I'll send you a post card!
