So I saw a post from
Silverpaw642 and I thought it was very neat how he listed his some of his favorite albums so I wanted to give a try. Now you will all see just exactly what this wolf has in his music collection. I listen to a lot of random stuff but Here are some of my all time favorites ^^
NOTE: This list is not in any order and I am not a music critic
1. Mastodon - Leviathan
Mastodon is Heavy Metal band that has also been given the secondary genre of "Sludge metal." This album came out in 2004. What I like about Mastodon is that their music is very intense but at the same time it's mellow enough that you can easily listen to it. The whole album is beautifully put together and each song has it's own story behind it. The theme of the album is water, so you will get a lot of songs about sea monsters, rough waters, and sailors fighting for their lives. Recommended Songs: Blood and Thunder, Iron Tusk, Seabeast
2. Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz
This is Ozzy's debut Album! All the way back from 1980. If you don't know Ozzy osbourne was the talented vocalist from the heavy metal band "Black Sabbath." This ablum was recorded with guitarist Randy Rhoads before he died two years later. The album itself its very easy to listen to and will get your head bobbing as you listen. The lyrics are somewhat dark, but then again so are most Black Sabbath-ish songs. Ozzy's vocals are the key here. He will make you sing along with him and before you know it you'll be shouting "IM GOIN OFF THE RAILS ON A CRAZY TRAIIIIN!" in no time. Recommended Songs: Crazy Train (duh), Mr. Crowley, Goodbye to Romance
3. Alice in Chains - Dirt
It's very hard to describe Alice in Chains but I will say that know how to combine grunge with metal in a way that is simply put "Awesome." This is their second studio album that came out in 1992. There are so many things I can say about this one. Very energetic, very grunge sounding guitars, and of course the VOICE of Layne Staley. His voice makes everything so haunting that it fits perfectly. It's enough to send chills down your spine. Alice still goes on, but Layne will surely be missed. Recommended Songs: Them Bones, Would?, Rooster
4. Nirvana - Nevermind
If you can sum up the 90s with one word, it was probably "Smells like teen spirit." I know it's not "one" word but it damn near should be. This is Nirvana's 2nd studio album and the one that made everyone fall in love with them. Nirvana's sound is the classic grunge rock feel of the 90s: Ripped jeans, angst-y lyrics, and a lot of energy. Kurt Cobain just goes crazy with the singing that at times seems like he can go hoarse at any moment. Crazy as it can be it doesn't ruin the music overall. This is such a great album and I highly recommenced it to anyone. Recommended songs: In Bloom, Breed, Lithium, Smells like Teen Spirit (c'mon)
5. System of A Down - Toxicity
SOAD is a alternative metal band whose hobbies include: Winning, winning, winning, and more freaking winning. This album is from 2001 and boy will it wake your ass up. The shear craziness of this album is too much for me to put into legible words. Powerful, nonsensical, shouting lyrics. Heavy guitar, and so much freaking energy you will punch several holes in your wall the time the album is through. There is a good mix of both energetic and slow songs so it's not just pure craziness all the way. Really good pump up album for any situation. Warning! this album is not for woman who are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant. It's for ALL THREE! Recommended Songs: Chop Suey!, Needles, Jet Pilot, Aerials
6. Panic! At the Disco - A fever You Can't Sweat Out
There is so much love for this album I can't even put into words other than kajfl;kajl;ajdklfjakl;fjk;alj;fakljk. This is PATD debut album back in 2005. Their music is pretty much pop punk, it is FULL of energy. There is a lot of circus sounds floating around from time to time and the vocalist Brendon Urie harmonizes so well with everything. Lyric wise the songs talk a lot about themes like adultery, to alcoholism, to prostitution. This album is crazy, I'll tell you that, plus it has some of THE longest-ass titles for songs I've ever seen lol. Recommended Songs: I Write Sins Not Tragedies, The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage, Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off
7. Them Crooked Vultures - Them Crooked Vultures
TCV is a super group composed of Josh Homme the singer/ guitarist for "Queens of the Stone Age", Dave Grohl the drummer from Nirvana/ Singer and guitarist for "Foo Fighters" and John Paul Jones, the bassist for "Led Zeppelin." This is their debut album back in 2009. I didn't know what to expect from this at first, but in the end it rocked my socks off. It's a pretty balanced album. As far as I know there is a guitar, a drum, and a bass but the rest is left to your interpretation. It sounds so unlike other rock bands that it's pretty out of this world. Recommended Songs: No One Loves Me and Neither Do I, Scumbag Blues, Gunman
8. Iced Earth - Horror Show
Iced Earth is an american Heavy metal band that I've really have a soft spot for. This album was released back in 2001 and was the first one I've heard from these guys. The theme for this album is basically old movie monsters. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, even the Wolfman (Hellz yes ^^). Really heavy album with speedy guitars, heavy drums, powerful singer, plus if you love monster movies these songs will paint a picture for you. Recommended Songs: Wolf, Dracula, Jekyll & Hyde
9. Das EFX - Dead Serious
Das EFX is a duo old school hip hop group from the 90s. This is there debut album form 1992. This album incorporates everything I love about old school hip hop. The beats sound so funky and the rhymes are delivered are so awesome. These guys don't sound like everyone else and that is because they didn't plan to. They wanted invent a rhyming style so unique that they would be noticed out of the flock. I know most furries aren't really into hip hop music that much. However, I really like this album and if you want to give it a listen to be my quest. Recommended Songs: Mic Checka, Jussumen, They Want EFX, Straight Out The Sewer
10. R.E.M. - Monster
I can honestly say that R.E.M. is my favorite band ever. From 1994 this album had a lot of competition in the world of Alternative rock since everyone was more into grunge sounding music but managed to become a wonderful sounding album all together. It includes amazing vocals and lyrics from Micheal Stipe, twisted distorted guitars, and an overall crazy sound that is just full of good vibes. Recommended Songs: Crush With Eyeliner, What's the Frequency, Kenneth? , Bang and Blame
11. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
RHCP are one of my favorites. From 1999 comes their seventh album. It's funky and crazy sounding alternative funk rock. This album doesn't quite have the punk-ish feel like the peppers previous albums but it still gets the job done. This album will make you feel good, pump you up, Stare into the void and make you shake hands with the Universe. It's a very deep album. Recommended Songs: Scar Tissue, Otherside, Californication, Road Trippin.
12. Metallica - Metallica (The Black Album)
One of the Big 4 of Thrash Metal. Metallica's 1991 album kicks serious ass. Heavy guitar rifts, pounding drums. James Hetfield sounds so powerful and angry and it all comes out as balls to the wall Metallica musical masterpiece. Really good album to listen to just before going to work. Well at least for me anyway lol. Come let Metallica tell you a story that's darker than the album cover itself, off to Ever-neverland. Recommended Songs: Enter Sandman, Of Wolf and Man, Sad but True, Wherever I May Roam
13. Daft Punk - Discovery
You can't go wrong with Daft punk. This album is so good it will make you want to slap your moma's moma moma's third cousin. Daft punk are the kings of techno/Disco sounding crazy electrifying funky something something. If you like them however, there are a couple of others like, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and The Crystal Method, alll of which have similar electronic sounds that fit into this category. However, this is an album that will get you dancing quick. Get the Watah cuz it's goin dooooown. Recommended Songs: Aerodynamic, One More Time, Superheroes, Face To Face
14. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
Muse is an alternative rock / space rock band. This is their 4th album back in 2006. These guys are amazing. I was very upset at the time I couldn't see them in concert. Their music is like one big space opera. The vocalist hits notes so high you wonder whether or not he is even human. The guitars are loud and the drums pound away. The songs build up so much tension that you can barely take it then releases into pure rocking energy. Its such an amazing album. Highly recommenced. Wow . Recommenced Songs: Starlight, Knights of Cydonia, Supermassive Black Hole
