Well I sure had one wild ride at school today!

And what I mean by that is that my school (Kirkwood High school) Went on lock down for a good hour and a half today because supposedly an armed gunman had entered the building and was apparently a threat!!
....Well at least that is what they THOUGHT was going on because they did have a swat team, federal marshals, the police and everyone was showing up all while I was trapped in class and well it seems like it would be a serious issue that should be treated as such and I think the school did a great job of handling the situation with all the perinoia of school shootings lately.
However it was just a big waste of time for the police department because this "Intruder" happened to be just a local reporter from a local news station in St.Louis who was doing a cover story on school security in the St.Louis area, particularly the county and turns out what he would do is go ask if he could talk about security with an administrater, leave his name, phone and his car keys and would just leave and wonder the school to see how it reacted.
Don't get me wrong because it is a great way to do that but where the reported screwed up is not letting anyone know he was going to do this so he came off as a intruder I suppose.
So safe to say I have had an interesting Thursday! :3

So in other words a dumbass news reporter wasted countless time, tax payer money, and scared everyone half to death so they could do a half assed new report.

Yep, that is pretty much it and they gave our school a fail for safety because we don't go to school at fort Knox and that makes it easier to fell safe of COARSE.

That's... dumb. sheesh. You'd think that he's have more sense than to "test the system" than by putting the freaking school on lockdown.

OP
Yeah it really is pretty dumb, they pretty much pissed off not only the school, but the administrators of the district, the police chief, and the city for trying to do something like this and although they did apologize for putting the school on lock down it is the schools policy that if there is an unidentified someone on campus and my school has a very collage-like campus so it covers a pretty big area but it means that if they have knowledge of someone on campus who they know is there but don't know the location of they have to go into lock down so if anything the school is more prepared for a situation like this than anything but they still decided to give the school a fail for safety. :/

Yeah everyone was fine because like I said it was the "Real-Deal" and not set up but it was just more of a "Private test" so there was no real danger involved but yeah we are fine!

lol, well, at least ya know they are prepared if something does happen

Lol really, if anything the school did the right thing in that kind is situation and shows that we are prepared, yet we still get the fail for safety for following the right procedure.

I've been through a lock down practice sessions at both my public and high school but I've been fortunate not to have gone through a real lock down.
aerospacerocks840

OP
If you would even call this one because this can be considered the "Real-Deal" but since it was just a reporter testing the schools security systems around the city there was never any real danger because the reporter was just doing a story and not looking for blood but yeah at least we do see how effective the system actually is in case of a Real "Real" situation were to ever occur and we do drill for this all the time so it was nothing new for us but yeah it was kinda different and exciting to say the least not having any idea what was happening.

Yeah it was an interesting experience and everyone was fine because it was the real deal but the "Intruder" just was not being very smart and had no intention of hurting anyone but I suppose that is undercover reporters for you. But yes I am fine *Hugs back*
