The staff hired an apparently known rapist who has been targeting young women in the fandom, and they've been halfassedly defending their choice and banning people who have voiced complaints about it.

I only found out about this through your journal here and you answering that guy's question. That's pretty twisted if you ask me. That'd be like letting a pedophile go and supervise a pre-k session. I mean... one can rehabilitate or whatever the fuck they wanna do, but this is obviously a choice that goes against all reason.

Hire a money launderer to a bank? No. Let someone charged with repeated assault be a bouncer? No. Give an alcoholic a cocktail? Nuh uh. Soooo, what the fuck. What... the fuck.

Yeah, and given that they're hiding comments left and right, it doesn't surprise me. There's a Tumblr post going around with screencaps of accusations and chat logs but I'm not sure if I should link it here or not, I'd rather not get banned entirely.

But yeah, it's pretty disgusting. They're arguing that what the guy did wasn't 'technically' rape but even if it wasn't, everything about the guy's behavior and attitude (targeting vulnerable girls with known emotional issues, getting belligerent and demanding over the topic of sex, etc etc) should be enough to not hire someone like that ANYWAY.

That sounds like it's rationalizing something that, regardless of what I know, is no way to treat people. Hell, you don't have to be a criminal to not be eligible for a job. Extreme assholes get fired, too. Sexist jerks and the like wouldn't be eligible to work in some places, you know? I dunno. I mean... it's unsettling. In some ways I don't think anybody should leave the site, but I do get the sentiment behind doing it. Regardless, I don't agree with the choice. I find it foolish.

It's Zaush, a popular artist. Apparently he was just hired as a codewriter, even though the victim came forward to Dragoneer previously for advice on what to do about the fact that Zaush was targeting other girls. So it's less about the fact that he was hired and more about the fact that he was hired when they had ALREADY BEEN MADE AWARE of what he'd done/was doing.

I don't even think they make money from people viewing the ads. They only get money from people buying the ads. So the only people missing out are those who have ads up. D:

I view ads all of the time because I find new people to watch, pretty much. ahah

Ah, well, all the same, I hate looking at ads and I usually find people to watch by trawling through other peoples' faves and generally poking around. XD

I just do what I can to find more people. xD Though some ads are very misleading. >8C
