So, I've been seeing this in my Journal box about eighty-trillion times. And every time, I think one thing.....
"Get a fucking grip on yourself."
My understanding of the situation is that one of the people working on the upcoming reskin is accused of...well, sexual pressure. And so far, all I've seen is hearsay, but given how inept the staff are at member issues, staff issues and priorities, and how nepotist they are, the "evidence" is compelling, were I into baseless gossip. Except I'm not. And you should not be either.
The staff here is laughably poorly maintained and, to an extent, corrupt. That much, we are reasonably certain of. But there is little evidence to go on about the rape. And until I see a positive rape-kit , I'm not weighing in my opinion on that. I'm weighing in my opinion for everyone who thinks that leaving is a good idea:
You're all morons.
Seriously. Ha ha... Do you really think that migrating to Weasyl is going to make anything happen? Do you think that your indignance is going to correct what is a deep-rooted issue with the staff ethics? These are people who are known for obliterating posts when it inconveniences them (long before this kerfuffle happened). They are believed to routinely embezzle donation money, they know next to nothing about hardware that would do this site worlds of good. One member leaving won't make a difference. Fifty would not make a difference. 50% also probably would not make a difference. They know Weasyl is a strong competitor, and they won't care if you leave.
Don't get me wrong, it's difficult to tolerate a place run by people of such muddy morals, dubious talents, or tenuous PR, but if you don't interact with such people, leaving just makes your exit just look like a token stance on these issues.
Go on, get out of here. I subscribed to you because I liked your content, and if you're willing to turn your back on your subscribers because of some misguided attempt to be democratic through protest, then that's your prerogative and I wish you well wherethrough you will not hit yourself on the door. Go find yourselves a tree to chain yourselves to.
