Wrestling with Weasyl

General
So last year I decided to make a Weasyl account. I went, I made it, I uploaded some art… and then nothing.
Nothing happened. I got a few comments, a few followers, but over all, most of the action and activity was over here on FA. All my friends were here. So the Weasyl account fell by the wayside until the Great FA Blackout of last Fall. It was at that point that I was motivated to dust off my Weasyl account and tidy it up a bit. And the reason was not that all my friends were there now—I remained in contact with them via Twitter and Skype, mostly—but simply because, without FA, I now had the raw energy to spend time on Weasyl. And you know what? I enjoyed it! I like Weasyl's design, I like the way they have tags instead of categories, I LOVE the live previews for comments/journals. There are some things I'd prefer they did differently—featuring your favorites on your page along with your own art, and also custom thumbnails instead of the square ones—but for the most part I find it easier and more pleasant to use than FA. Also, the fact that they apparently give out TARDISes to their admins which allow them to respond to your problems WITHIN SECONDS is a nice perk.
Now that FA is back, I've been trying to keep active on both sites and it's just not working. Something's got to… not necessarily go, but get cut back.
So from now on I've decided to prioritize replies, comments, favorites, journals, announcements, commissions (which are mostly over email now but whatevs) AND art posting… over on my Weasyl.
If you've been wanting to get art from me, or just want to know what I'm up to, that'll be the place to go. Whatever energy I have left will be channeled to FA and interacting with the friends that remain here, but from now on, if you're on Weasyl, that's where you'll be hearing from me.
This has been a slow change that's been building for several months, but in the interest of full disclosure the changeover has been expedited somewhat by certain events, and I suggest EVERYONE go read that journal. What you decide to do with that information is ENTIRELY UP TO YOU.

I had the same experience...I tried to leave along with the previous exodus, but then all the activity at Weasyl fizzled out, so I came back here. But this time, I think it will be different, as A LOT MORE people are leaving (many "big name" artists), or at least trying to be active on both sites. THAT'S what it's going to take to keep Weasyl alive and kicking. We all have to keep actively posting there, if we want to "tip the scales" and make it the main furry hub; otherwise, folks will just give up again and wander back here to stay--or at least until the next big admin screw up here (it's just a matter of time). :P (Btw, read the links in my newest Weasyl journal...LOTS of info there about this whole fiasco, and the one before it, which I feel is relevant to this one.)

It just piles up and reaches a tipping point, doesn't it? (I read Kittiara's journal too.) Focusing more on Weasyl is also a tactical move if the massive update to Project Phoenix winds up making FA a worse site to use.

the only real gripe I have with weasyl is that its code isn't built to handle a lot of users (it uses Python). So that can cause it to go down at times.

i seriously feel like the whole "issue" has been rather blown out of proportion, cause i keep seeing various sides of it having been debunked or being said this way, or that way, but usually boiling down to the he said she said, and people labeling it an attention grabbing word. BUT! i don't really care and won't lean one way or the other. it'll be sad to see less activity from you here, since your art is quite amazing indeed (i'm STILL trying to get around to getting that sketch i got from you at AC 2013 made into that LED panel.....but see some of my past journals about my computer going boom and you'll know why i've not had money to do so till recently ^^;; ), but good to hear you found something that works for you =) cause in the end, to each their own ^vvvv^
