Possible triggers warning for survivors
Coercing someone into a yes is still against their will whether they press legal charges or no.

"Rape and/or sexual assault is forced, manipulated, or coerced sexual contact by a stranger, friend or acquaintance. It is an act of aggression and power combined with some form of sex. A person is forced into sexual contact through verbal coercion, threats, physical restraint, and/or physical violence. Consent is not given. "
"Coercion
Coercion is the use of emotional manipulation to persuade someone to something they may not want to do – like being sexual or performing certain sexual acts. Examples of some coercive statements include: “If you love me you would have sex with me .”, “If you don't have sex with me I will find someone who will.”, and “I'm not sure I can be with someone who doesn't want to have sex with me.” Coercive statements are often part of many campus acquaintance rapes. Being coerced into having sex or performing sexual acts is not consenting to having sex and is considered rape/sexual assault. "

FA+

If there is no legal investigation and a court case resulting in a guilty verdict, then the accused cannot be legally treated as anything other than innocent. "Innocent until proven otherwise."
If you are not a witness, and I know I'm not, then you have no way of knowing what truly happened. I know I don't. Sure, I hear stories from both sides, and all sides, but I have no way of knowing which are true because I wasn't there. If there is enough evidence to convict, then let's do it! But when the only people who really know what happened are witnesses it really is a matter of one person's word against another, and since I have never met or talked to anyone involved I really can't say who I believe.
The third and final part is...how far do we take this? Should I avoid using any service where any of the employees, or managers, or CEOs has been accused but not convicted? If there is enough evidence to convict, then let's do it! But when the only people who really know what happened are witnesses it really is a matter of one person's word against another, and since I have never met or talked to anyone involved I really can't say who I believe.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule promoting FA and being accepting of the IMVU way of business that forces victims to pay money to protect themselves to come over to my old old journal entry and be accepting of Dragoneer's hiring of rapists as coders. Not that it matters now since none of the old coders are going to be involved with FA unless they're hired by IMVU, and if they are, we don't even get to know.
You should try being someone that stands up for a community and has standards instead of accepting everything anyone throws your way. You should read the information in the links I gave. Court conviction doesn't mean anything in these instances, by the by, as rape goes unreported so often, dismissed so often (by people taking attitudes just like yours...police and judges doing the same, no less). Not to mention the fact that Dragoneer talked them OUT of going to the police instead of doing the right thing. But I digress.
Go away, thank you kindly.
Rape is a complicated subject precisely because it often goes unreported. But are you telling me that you were present during the incident? Are you a witness? I'm not. I don't know what happened. In the absence of evidence, the default position is one of skepticism. If I had witnessed a rape, I would urge the victim to go to the police. But that's precisely the thing: I did not witness it, so I have no way of knowing what really happened, therefore I am in no position to claim someone is guilty: I am neither judge, nor jury, nor witness.
Do you do background checks on employees from every shop, bar, restaurant, cafe or other establishment and service you use? I hope you do, because you certainly wouldn't approve if any of these businesses had a member of staff that had been accused of rape, and I know that you'd be very distressed if you used their services.
I don't condone IMVU being able to keep potentially stolen content behind a paywall. But what does that have to do with FA being bought by them? IMVU has always been able to do this, but you only seem to have become concerned regarding this issue recently. What prompted this sudden change? Why have you not been against them for longer? As for other websites that force you to pay money to view potentially stolen adult content, I can't say I've really looked into it but it's the internet, there must be many of those, I highly doubt IMVU is unique in that way.
No, I don't do background checks, thank you very much. Business do that. Dragoneer doesn't. Just look at what's come out about MANY OTHER people he's hired over the years. Now, if I saw someone I knew had done something horrible, I'd report it to the business. If their reaction was 'whatever', then yes, I'd happily stop going there.
FA being bought by IMVU brought the whole content locked behind a paywall to my attention. That plus all the people saying they've seen copyrighted stolen works in there, even without seeing the adult side, that made me have a big issue with it. Do you not? As or 'up until now', I only found out about it recently as I've kept away from IMVU because of all the shady company shite they do. Please have a look at their consumer affairs page. Enjoy the many many tales of users being bend over and fucked over by IMVU.
Now...Go...Away...From...My...Journal. The basis of your arguments this last post seemed to revolve around 'I wasn't an eye witness' 'I don't do background checks on everyone' and 'I didn't make an issue of this with IMVU years ago when they put it in place.'. These are the dumbest arguments I've seen regarding this. I gave you snark because you decided to come comment on a year+ old journal in your white knight FA escapades. It was snark well deserved, if you ask me. We're moving on to purely offensive, so...just go away.
