To be fair, people aren't leaving FA because omfg it sucks, people are leaving it as a way of protesting the way it's run and the behavior of those running it, and giving their support to another site instead.

Well no, no one's gonna like every staff member. But enough people have been convinced that the staff here is incompetent and/or immoral that they don't feel comfortable giving them support any longer. I personally have a hard time keeping track of all the drama that happens surrounding the admins here, but if I ever left FA, it would be for my own reasons, not because "omg dragoneer is teh sux"

That isn't going to help, really. Leaving does nothing except hurt the people because the staff can change again, or get better depending. Plus the staff isn't gonna care, new people come here all the time

Now, if this was a paid site where you have to pay to be a part of it, yeah, leaving would hurt because then FA would lose money. But its not, they lose nothing if people leave the site in protest

They would lose money if enough people migrated, actually. Their revenue comes from advertising, and if enough people were to quit using the site, advertisers would go where the traffic is. FA would then have to make changes or die off. It likely won't happen since FA is the Facebook of the furry world, but that's how it would hurt them.

Personally, I'd like to see Weasyl's userbase increase. FA more or less has a monopoly on the whole furry art site thing so they don't feel a *need* to improve. If someone else begins to overtake them, again, they'd have to make changes or die off. Competition is healthy. Competition breeds innovation and better experiences for all.

That's the thing though, there isn't going to be enough people leaving. Too many artists have their base here, it would be too much of a pain and inconvenience to uproot and move to a new site and reestablish themselves. Plus this site gets new people all the time, there isn't going to be enough people moving to warrant FA's concern

Point taken, but unless they offer something new that FA doesn't do already, its not gonna be attracting enough to compete with FA. I have an account on Weasyl, its just another version of FA. The only real difference is how things look and how you upload stuff. That's about it

Well, there is the question of how many sites that YOU are willing to regularly check up upon.

I check up on all of them. Others might not cuz it can be a hassle, but its notso bad when you think about it
