Merry F***ing X-mas.

Well...one more sucky weekend. Our truck was totaled Saturday morning at about 3:30 as it sat parked in front of the house. The compact car that hit it must have really been moving, because it knocked a mid-sized truck with its parking brake on backward about ten feet and 3-4 feet up onto the curb AND broke the wheel off. And that was AFTER it had sideswiped the car next door. The offending Suzuki ended up sideways in the road (also totaled) and the driver got out and ran away.
I guess we're "lucky" though. Our old Kia WOULD have been damaged too if it had been in its normal spot directly behind the truck, but another car had been behind the truck when Bel got home and they parked behind it. When it left, there was enough space between cars so the Kia was untouched when the Dakota was knocked backwards by nearly a car length.
The driver has yet to be apprehended. He was probably drunk and definitely going WAY too fast down such a populated major street. I hear these boneheads every night roaring up and down our street, tires screeching and music systems throbbing so loudly that it literally shakes our house when they get close.
I thought Xmas last year was bad--this one is mounting up to be a real crapfest. Too bad I can't blame God or the Devil for my troubles. *sigh*

It's times like that, that you need a speed detector connected to a fairly high-speed camera....so you can get shots of them doing it and report it to the cops.
I've been witness to just such an accident; dude came over the top of a shallow hill at about 80 (in a 35) and clobbered the hell out of my friend's pride-and-joy dually Chevy.
Said friend is about 6'5" and built. Took four of us to hold him back. We (there were five of us hanging about) were pretty certain that if we hadn't, he'd have wound up in jail on charges of manslaughter or second-degree murder...
How's your insurance dealing with this?
The insurance is probly gonna take awhile. We still don't know all the details.
Best of luck in dealing with 'em. I kinda know how you feel.
Why people do stupid things like that? 'Cause they've never fucked up badly enough to understand why you don't. Some people are that dense.
My street however is too much of a pain to drive down with all the hard turns giant old monstrosities of Detroit parked all around and really bad dips in the road, and one lane might-as-well-be-Michigan street. As well as the 'cardiac' hills.
Sorry to hear that stuff, i did tell you you should move to 'Gay' San Diego.
but still today a F-18 jet had engine problems and crashed in a neighborhood near to the Marine air base down here, three people are dead on the ground and two are missing and three houses are burnt to the ground. It was about eight miles north, they don't fly over me though, nor the 'gay' part of town.
On a happier note at least you were not in it at the time
I know what you mean about crappy Christmases, though. Mine isn't going too well. Major family trouble.
