I use Avast for the antivirus. It's free to use.

i used to use avast. it got me into a lot of trouble but it was good for it's time... i might go back to it depending on the prices for things...

What was it that caused you to get into trouble?

sorry, let me explain.
i was hacked, which i believe was not avast's fault, but the hacker wasnt interested in taking my info, in fact i think i knew the hacker (but he never admitted to the hacking), instead he filled my comp with viruses.

when he left my system, the virus' were already spreading. when i did my daily sweep for them it came up with no viruses detected. and for the next few days, hard drives, the ones that i governed my art, books, stories, journal, and poetry, failed miserably... and my c drive remained fine. this is why i knew it was someone i knew. they hit me where it hurt but left my system intact... mostly. Avast was on my C drive, and never saw a single problem. now maybe this is because the hacker was that good, hard for me to say, but i lost EVERYTHING that made me, me, and Avast said nothing was wrong. i had to take the comp to a comp comany in the area and they removed 3 trojans and 2 hydra rabbits from my comp... then they recommended that i change antivirus' so i did. never looked back.

Fair enough. I've had Avast for over 6 years and no problems with them.

yah i know that it is normally that way for most people... i had a bad experience and that is rare. its just a preference i suppose.
