To My Commissioners: A Heartfelt Thank-You
12 years ago
This journal goes out to everyone who has commissioned me in the past, and all those who plan to commission me in the future.
Thank you.
From the bottom of the heart, as deeply as I can say it, with as much emphasis as I can make, thank you.
Right now I am in the middle of trying to find an entry-level job in an industry that is on a good day difficult for newcomers, and on top of that is in a huge slump and a slow hiring time. Hardly anyone is hiring for artists or animators, almost all of our jobs are getting outsourced to Canada or Europe, and those few positions that are hiring are all those that require many, many years of experience. In other words... I've been searching for three months and I've yet to get a single response saying that I might even be considered for the position I've applied for. Of the hundreds of applications I've sent, I've been lucky enough to get about ten or so emails rejecting my application. It's very rough for me right now, and needless to say my hope is running thin.
That's where you guys come in. Your commissions have helped me keep a somewhat steady income, so I can pay my parents my monthly "rent" while I stay at their house, eat their food, etc and look for a job. If not for you guys, I would've been long forced to go work at something like, say, McDonald's, to have some kind of income. And then I wouldn't be able to work on my art, improve my skills, and further pursue possible opportunities that may open in my field. Then, I would just be stuck.
So again, and as many times as I can say it, as much as I can say it, thank you. I can't emphasize how important you all are to me, and how much it means to me that you continue to commission me and support me in this difficult and trying time of my life.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
