I just want to vent how much I loathe the use of the American Flag in graphic design.

I'm having to come up with signage for someone that wants a "patriotic theme", who's imagination can only seem to come with the American flag as a background for what's supposed to be banners and signs.. with you know, words!

I don't know how else to explain it, the flag of the United States, the 50 stars and 13 stripes? It's very busy, and putting any kind of text in front of it destroys readability!

I almost wish the flag was a few stripes and maybe just a handful of stars. I mean, that's enough right? Most countries seem to get away with tricolor or dual-color flags... and then at least have a field of color somewhere where you can type something?
