Do people like Dubstep Ironically?
I... I just don't get it... It sounds awful to me... How is it popular?
Any dubstep song I've ever heard is just a bunch of Wahwah sounds over and over, with like no real beat, and electronic noises strung within. I've never listened to a dubstep song and thought "I can hum this" or "This will be stuck in my head all day."
It just makes me think of this: http://youtu.be/om4AE5El9oE
Maybe it's just past my time.. But I am curious, if you like dubstep... Why?

Some artists do it better while others tend to just repeat the same beats but altered a little bit instead of adding new sounds during the song.
You have to drop it.

*dances*
It's like
super popular guy: hey check out this shit.
followers: this is awful but we'll like it because you told us to.
I think the same thing about ridiculously heavy metal and screamo and shit like that. I won't say it's worthless trash, but I can't like it either.
But.. Really had nothing to do with this topic.
I said I liked it..
For the sweet drops.
But beats me. I guess the same question could be asked for every genre you don't like.
I find that I tend to lose focus more easily when I listen to my other music with lyrics.
I also put techno and anime opening songs into the same playlist,
having little to no lyrics (or lyrics I can't sing due to different language) makes them ideal homework songs.
Outwub got me in.
Outrun Bay I think it's called.
Colloquially however, I just call it Outwub, as that is what it pretty much is for the most part.
Seasonal shrine intro also makes a short nifty wub use just IMO.
To me it's only good when mixed with other things; by itself it's pretty bad unless you are just wanting some sort of "trance" music.
Buuut it just amounts to personal preference like all music though.

Now I like dubstep only a little bit.
everything by Lindsey Stirling

and this song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lJwnCeTWxE
other than that most of it is just terrible
I dunno, most of the songs I hear doesn't sound like music and the songs with dubstep sprinkled on sounds very annoying (Like SEGA All-stars transformed racing soundtrack)
Evidently there are different types of dubstep. The only difference I can tell is that some of it sounds like death (and not in an awesome way) and some of it sounds acceptable to a very limited extent, fuck it, maybe even kind of badass.
An example of something that just sounds like a dying dial up connection to me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJVmu6yttiw
And something that I would actually go out of my way to hear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bM8xByCbjFM
I'm not sure if the latter is even really considered dubstep. I kind of want to say no actually. Only because I think it sounds good. To be 100%, I do like the way it sounds but if there was no guitar or drums, I probably wouldn't like it much at all. Personally, I just like real instruments. The thing that goes against this though is that I can listen to CG/synthetic music and think that it sounds good, yet I despise 99% of dubstep. It also gets to the point of where I don't even really know what "dubstep" is. Is it like a new name for techno or electronic music? Because that stuff is still there. I've basically come to the conclusion that dubstep is like the reject scraps of drum & bass thrown together with some annoying screeching noises. Basically imagine remixing nails on a chalkboard. That is dubstep.
There are ridiculous ammounts of songs with only the "wubs"... I hate those.
There are on the other hand very nice songs too.
For example take this japanese dubstep song (Actually from the Rythm Game Pop'n Music) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSFxU6PDzqw
Klaypex is another example that sounds nice from time to time.

But it's it really is a taste thing. As there is different Metal, techno and so on, there is different dubstep too.
Some likeable, some just outright ear destroying.
But a lot of people use it in a lazy way, the majority thinking that it's just a quick way to make crap music cheaply... which it kinda is. Rarely is it done particularly well. But when it is, it can be awesome :D

Most dubstep is far too random and chaotic, even to the point where the melody and rhythm aren't synced to the same beat. That stuff sucks. Aside from the wub, the worst part is when the melody runs at half the speed of the rhythm and percussion, so I just want to yell into my speaker, "speed up, dammit!"
Speed garage has a similar sound to dubstep, and is better if it's done right. Shame there are few good examples of the style, but it's worth looking up.
A lot of the old MODs I made on my Amiga in the 90's sound like dubstep... minus the wub wub. I used looping bass instruments for melody all the time (with mixed results). Of course, that's largely because I had few instruments in my collection. I made new instruments by clipping the hell out of string instruments I recorded from movies, and then filtered away the clipping. Terminator 2 was one of my favorite movies for sampling. Vocal chorus works surprisingly well for the clip/filter method I used and sounds a lot like the buzzy bass you hear in a lot of dubstep songs.
I shall call it... Dogstep.
(DROP THE BARK! (WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF))..
.. I am perhaps a terrible person.
Not everyone enjoys every genre of music... Like I for one cannot stand pop and country... Everything else is alright, especially classical. I think it's just people have different tastes...
Dubstep is a music genre distinguished for it style. It has been around for at over 10 years from what I have seen, but I have only learned about dubstep maybe around 2009.
Dubstep is a combination of 2 other music genres.
'2Step' is one of the music genres. I believe it is very close to drum and base.
'Dub' is the other music category I believe sounds very mellow with low bass tones with reggae elements that have put emphasis on sound effects like echo and reverb.
Like all music, dubstep is a audio expression which activates and triggers your senses. Attend a symphony with a live orchestra, your body will go into waves of emotions! Dubstep does the same thing.
Skrillex is not dubstep music, he is a different class of electronica music. And to call dubstep sensory overload is ignorant because all music has this effect. Dimebag Darrel had an ear piercing, gut-wrenching, power with his guitar *especially live* while playing in a band called Pantera and he did it knowing that people would feel different effects from his music. Some would even say they had orgasms listening to his guitar solos. Sure it is heavy metal and not dubstep, but I am trying to express the experience when behind the audio waves.
I don't like 'country' music at all, but I won't call them lazy or untalented. It's just not my music. But I really can't stand country
At this point it doesn't surprise me too much what people like
Ehm... I'm not sure if I can identify dubstep but what introduced me to that kind of music (loud electronic music) was this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5KC1E5NyR0 it's Jake the dog showing how to dance to a bug.
As I said I'm not sure if I can identify dubstep, but this song is very good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYgSHOWNE0M it's called Rattle, I like it and many songs like that that make me feel things.
Take a look at this, my friend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEXZdvHptWg
Nothing can beat the sound of a Subaru WRX with Lindsey Sterling playing in the background.
But have you ever seen the anime Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency? It's awesome, and the soundtrack kicks ass. There's a couple tracks with dubstep thrown in, but they're not bad. Give these a try:
