I would very honestly love to get that movie for V-day. I love it. It is one of the most beautifully artistic works I've ever known. The sheer madness which consumes Alex and the way it rips through his life in a maddeningly casual manner. The coupling of it with sweet sweet Ludwig van only makes me more entranced. I watch it and worship it.

i could see it as an inside joke based on a bad past experience turned darkly comical, but it does not sound that way from how you are describing it.

It's a good book and a good movie. I'd imagine someone would get it for someone else if they knew their tastes and would appreciate it.

I remember reading the book in my English class during my Junior (or Senior?) year in High School...I also remember how disturbed/uncomfortable I felt as I read it...couldn't get myself to read it after the first several chapters. ;^^
