Police Dog as an Ongoing Series?
So an idea just hit me a couple of days ago. I'm currently thinking about Police Dog a lot these days, then I stumbled upon the old Canadian series The Littlest Hobo.
For those of you who don't know (and that's likely everyone who didn't grow up in Canada during the 80s), The Littlest Hobo was a live action television series about an unusually intelligent German Shepherd who roams from town to town helping people in need. He doesn’t speak, and there's no overarching storyline, but it's one of those series that's kind of the antithesis of what Hollywood produces.
And then it hit me. The idea doesn't really work for Forty-Two, but it would make a perfect setting for some type of ongoing Police Dog series...
So what do you think?
And I'll admit I was nearly in tears when I heard this theme song again for the first time in twenty years. I can't speak for anyone else, but, personally, it brings back memories of warm summer days, and the hardest problem I had to deal with being memorizing the multiplication table...

This is just me musing about the long term direction...
Not a Law & Order thing. Think more something along the lines of a... Hmm, I can't really think of another show to compare it to that's on the air now.
Well I think that 42 could make a great wandering helper of those in need, in order to atone for the sin of killing his litter mate. Plus that way he could make himself disappear so that they could never use him to create another police dog with his ability to kill.
Then again, perhaps that could be a good role for one of the early animals or perhaps the members of the highway patrol.
I keep forgetting you get Canadian television! In some ways The Littlest Hobo is quintessentially Canadian. It was based of an original American movie, then came north, got all the violence stripped out and became a warm-and-fuzzy low budget serial!
In some ways I'd almost call The Littlest Hobo a proto-furry TV show. It stars a dog, with all the humans getting second billing, and he's always able to save the day.
And I have most definite plans already for Forty-Two, not related to this, that you'll be seeing soon. I may have to come up with another Dog to fit this bill. I was thinking Highway Patrol too...
