So, about Skype.

So, for a long time, I'd considered writing this journal but I've just been lazy, and had other priorities lately.
I don't like Skype, I never have. I only ended up using it for anything more than voice chats because a majority of my friends and acquaintances use it. I find it obnoxious to use in most ways, tacky, and it's chat-syncing function is much more of a curse than a blessing. I can't even log out on my phone, I'll have the client offline, and close the app, and I somehow still get messages from my desktop synced to it with push alerts. tl;dr Pumpkin pie is the superior form of pie.
I used to use MSN and AIM and stuff, but MSN is gone now, and AIM... well I'd rather use something new. Steam is alright, but I kinda like using that for games-primarily. F-list is for touching myself, and nothing else! Guess I like having single clients to serve their individual, single purposes. What do all the cool kids use these days? Gtalk, is that a thing? Izzat what all the hippin' and the hoppin' is about?
I'm not saying I am now, but at some point I'm really considering bailing on Skype for anything but voice calls, and using something much lighter and nice for text-chat~

Also have been using MSN and ICQ... but they are gone, gladly, now all of my western friends use skype as well and I don't have to download 3 programs to talk to different people :3
You couldn't make a party chat only 1 on 1
MSN had a problem with a word limit, so was hard to RP
Not to mention those two had many bots...
For all this years it was so rare when I had problems with Skype, so come on :3
I've had countless random female chinese people add me on Skype and be like, "i am immigrant and want to make friedn in english" l3

It's broken and terrible to use.
I'd personally suggest Trillian.
Multi-IM chat program, which now has it's own native chat as well.
Best program I've ever used for IMs.
Only problem I have with it is the lack of people using it.
Or friends of mine just unwilling to try it out.
My stripes aren't quite that fashionable I'm afraid, my poor iPhone 4 can't handle that much love power~ l3

Good grief! Skype, Steam Mobile, and texting are pretty much it, until there's some new big IM company.
