Artists ;-;
11 years ago
I'm asking for some genuine help here. This is unrelated to my handpaws.
My original maker for my head has caused some quite unpleasant issues.
Initially, she refused to order the blank or fur so got me to order them for her. When the blank's price changed she refused to help with it (it was a really overpriced blank) so I had to get it cut and hinged by Crystumes.
The artist refused to order the tongue and NFT and fan requested in the quote and would either make up excuses or ignore me when I asked fortnightly if she'd ordered them yet.
I subtracted the original fur and blank from the deposit and as I didn't trust her had agreed that I'd send the remaining deposit off when she started.
We had an agreed due date of the last weekend of march for everything to be done and here however there was flexibility up to the first weekend of april. She said this was completely doable and the only way it couldn't be here was due to postage.
I contacted her a week or so ago, as the blank was taking longer to do (Crystumes offered a free fan as the maker wouldn't order one, jawset, tongue and cut the nose off for her) out of good will and she would not give me a definitive answer and told me the start date was mid march. This was not what was originally agreed anyway.
A while went by and I had the handpaw drama. That ripped me apart and I decided "screw it if I miss the con- i'm not having that again" and sent a very friendly message to the artist asking for the fur to be sent to Crystumes and the rest of the deposit to sent to me and that she could keep $50 out of good will.
She then told me she spent it all and had to order the NFT (Which she couldn't get any of) out of pocket. And that she spent every cent. I spoke to Crystumes about it and the artist was being very rude about me unprovoked, and considering Crystumes is not only taking over the commission but is a friend obviously shared what was said.
I sent a message after they'd spoken hinting that I was aware of what was said, but not explicitly and asked how she could have spent that much on my supplies considering their value.
She ignored it.
I went to send her a message asking if she could explain to me and she's blocked me and ran off with $250 of mine. She could have spent $100 AT MOST on this commission, supplies wise.
What should I do?

FA+

and how did you pay them? if you payed over paypal I'm pretty sure you can report them and get your money back (I'm not sure if thats exactly how it goes but I've heard of people doing this)
other than that I'm not sure what else you can do :( 'm so sorry this has happened to you
I'm not sure what else you could do, besides make others aware of what this persons done
if I was any good at fursuit making I'd offer to make it all for free but I'm really useless at making suits ;n;
Sorry for your loss however next time be patient and I'm sure things would have been fine!
Normally this would be true if she wasn't having both the blank being supplied to her and had most of the fur also sent to here. The blank of course ready to Fur- despite me also paying for her to buy jawsets etc.
Uru was frequently rude to me and I'm fully in the right to be upset. Instead of trying to solve a problem she attempted to defame me to my new artist.
You and her are friends and she's intentionally keeping the key points from you. $300 - 20 for white fur, 10 for Orange and 10 for yellow + postage = 240.
That is all she ordered as she "couldn't contact NFT" where her order would have been a whole... $45 plus shipping.
She tried to guilt trip me by saying that the NFT was going to have yo be out of pocket despite she having nothing else to buy from my deposit.
Considering her behaviour, constant rude and petty replies and ignoring me during the commission stage. - As well as bitching about me to my new artist and blocking me upon confrontation. I have more than enough evidence.
If you sent her items, you should have gotten things in writing (or e-mail) that the deposit is lowered (or else, the deposit has not changed!). This protects you and the artist from misunderstandings (assuming that one person thinks the same as you always leads to tragedy). All of this said, yes I did make some assumptions as your journal was not explicit in (because I couldn't get anymore information).
I love to be proven wrong when I'm actually wrong (I did make a lot of assumptions and would love to know the truth). If you really do want this on Artists-beware, please take screenshots of all of the notes/emails you've exchanged (private information like cc numbers or anything of the sort), your receipts/paypal/whatever that shows that you paid for certain items and the shipping receipts to show you sent those items to her. If you can provide this information I'd love to back you on Artists-beware or help you with getting it on there. This is provided that what you say is true and you have proper evidence (innocent until proven guilty in most people's eyes I'm afraid). Artists beware (and I) love to see proof of real wrongful doing, all you've done here is blame without showing any proof to anybody (which if this is similar to what you sent AB, that is why "they don't like you" and haven't posted it).
I just woke up and accidentally said her name but I've been trying to keep this non-threatening towards her.
Also, your demeanor and rudeness (never said anything about threatening) on twitter was not accidental, nor could you have been notified of my reply to her as you don't follow me. You sought out replies to her tweet and replied, that is far far away from your "getting notified". Your tweet replies also tells me that you were the one to accuse her of spending your deposit on items to improve her business and the range of what she can provide to her clients which is false and quite rude of you to do without any proof. She had her eye on that prize for a while (at least she had been searching for something like it when she was out in my neck of the woods) and used the money she earned from her job outside of the fandom to pay for it, not any deposits she received. Judging by other comments on your FA and twitter you seem to tend to play the victim in all cases when you are not entirely without blame. I would encourage you to step up to your mistakes, own your mistakes, and apologize when you've allowed emotions to cloud your judgement. It is never comfortable but people will respect you a whole lot more if you do.
Once again, if you actually do want this resolved, I would like to help. So far all you've done is spread speculation, violate TOS and then whine that you didn't get your way when the TOS specifically said what to expect should you try to get a refund on a deposit. If you want to do something instead of spread speculation, hate, and half truths then please let me know.
