MFX: The long slow goodbye...
It's 2:24pm, Long Slow Goodbye by Queens Of The Stone Age just came up on my iPod, and I've just gotten back home from final last goodbyes.
Made my way into the city around 11am where I met up with Kraden, Jen, Carnival, Loopey and Dusten for a nice cafe/bakery breakfast. We then went back to the hotel, where i managed to catch Crazy and Vixen as they were checking out. I then went with Kraden and Jen to see them off to the airport bus with Carnie. As we headed back to the hotel once more, we bumped into Pete and had a coffee with him, Kaz, Fiery. According to Pete, we have gotten one up on AC, where the most they have raised in one year at one of their auctions is $3,000, where we managed $3,600! Now, if that wasn't cool enough, consider that per head, that works out to roughly $2 vs $14. I can only hope that Kage takes that back to AC with him, hehe.
After this, I said my final final goodbyes to all who were still there, and as i got back to my car, i had this rush of emotion over me, as it finally clicked that it was actually, finally, all over, and have now been on the verge of tears for no particular reason for the past hour. I think I can honestly say that these last few days have been the best fun I have had in my entire life, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was there and made this event what it was.
Reflecting now, the auction was the highlight of the whole weekend, in particular, the signed MFX poster, when the bidding just went through the roof to make sure we could keep in in Australia, it showed us what the community is all about, that we were able to put aside petty squabbling and come together, it made me proud to be a furr, so much so that when my friend who I'm going to see tonight for pool asks me about my weekend, I'm going to tell him exactly what the fandom is (well, mostly anyway) and why it was so amazing.
Once again, thank you all, I will never forget these last few days as long as I live, and that you for being apart of it.
