Well, since it's been so long since I've posted an update journal this will be a long one. There will be an abbreviated version below for those not wanting to read it all.
Well, I changed positions within my company since November and this has been a good move. I'm actually enjoying the work I'm doing and actually using some of the knowledge and skills I learned in school (for which I'm still paying off). For those who don't know, I was working in the organic extraction lab for a local environmental testing company. My new position is in their Volatile lab, and I'm the screener. Basically my job is to just screen all the samples that come in so that the analysts know if a sample is dirty or clean. If it's dirty, they can then dilute the sample so it doesn't overload or fry their instrument (which can cost them a day or more of runs when that happens). It can be stressful at times, but more rewarding and nice to work in a smaller group than I was before. It's not all good though, as I'm now on salary, ick. Nice to get a steady paycheck amount each week, but hours are meaningless now. Luckily I have been working pretty much below 50 hours so it's not that harsh. Plus lunch break is a lot more relaxing as I'm not having to watch the clock all the time. So that's work life.
For more personal stuff, I finally got a replacement car. For those that didn't read (or maybe forgot) my first car was totaled the Monday right before FurFirght. Yeah, that was a very up and down week, but was able to snag a rental to get me to and from the convention. After that, was a mix of calling in favors and taking out a rental to keep me going to and from work. The insurance situation was a complete nightmare. Long story short, some stuff I should have taken care of the past couple of years came to bite me in the rump really well. Plus the guy that hit me, his insurance guy/representative (was a company car) was just being a dick. But finally, after a few months of headaches, I finally had the check and was ready to find a new ride in middle of January. Found a nice 2011 Ford Focus that a used car dealership had near by (good guys and the owner was also the Father of my mechanic which was why I was willing to buy from him). It's a great car, with amazing gas millage, a decent audio system and in general a major step up from my 2000 Chevy Malibu (I'm nostalgic for the Malibu just as it was the first major purchase I ever made and worked to get during High School). Only real draw back on the car is that it is mint green, and I mean MINT GREEN. But hey, I got hit from the guy not noticing me, so maybe the less blend in color will prevent that.
Now for some furry stuff. For those that I haven't told and/or weren't at the Massfurbowl this last Saturday, I finally have a fursuit.
noblewolf had a pre-made partial for sale that I liked, had the money to buy him and decided to do it. Obviously it isn't of my fursona as it was a pre-made, but he's still a cutie (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12698186/ https://twitter.com/RuffeHusky/stat.....670945746944). I've decided to name him Twitch and still trying to figure him out, but really enjoyed suiting him that night. Looking forward to more outings and just getting into character more (and definitely a Ruffe Fursuit will happen in the next few years). Only have a couple pictures of him at present but I'm sure as time goes by that will change. Though suiting that night, I have such greater respect for all fursuiters out there as it isn't an easy thing to do with the limited vision and heat. Also big thanks and the biggest hugs to
TheStripedOne for suiting with me and allowing me to follow him like a lost puppy. Helped to make my first time an enjoyable experience and not a potential nightmare it could have been.
So for those wanting a quick read: New position going well, have a new car, and now have a fursuit
