Fursuit and Nordic Fuzzcon 2014
General
Ahr, returned home from this years Nordic Fuzzcon just yesterday.
It is a little difficult choosing just where to start talking about it. For some major reasons it was really a milestone for me, and a con I'll never forget. While the first NFC was the very first furry convention I had ever gone to NFC 2014 was the very first convention, or any location at all, that I fursuited in!
After last NFC I had this plan of making my own fursuit and working on it for the better part of the entire year I was able to finish it just in time for the convention. In fact due to what in hindsight was a bit of poor planing (Oh its only mars, I have soooo much time to work on my suit) I was only able to finish my suit literally at the convention itself, stitching and gluing like a madman well into the morning of the first night in my room. But I am overjoyed that I was able to finish the suit and then wear it!

I am unbelievably grateful for all the people who helped me with creating the suit,
mickel,
darkwolf94,
kitsunexzeria,
oddity, and some of my non-fur friends and even family members who helped to sew and ducttape to get it done in time. And more than anything
vappu for helping me with the head and Pao for her amazing sewing abilities and knife-work. I am real happy with how it turned out.
As for the con itself, yeah, haha. The first day I arrived a little late, precisely in time to sneak into the opening ceremony as it was getting started, and right from the begining I ended up spending way more time than I would have liked up in my room working on my suit, trying to make last moment fixes to it. I suprised myself in that I did not give up and just go enjoy the con, my suit not having a tail and the bodysuit in essentially four separate pieces, paws unfinished, and all sorts of stuff. But I did take breaks to go down to the con now and then and visit some panels. But the first day was more or less spent entirely in my room, altough in the company of some great people who came by to help me. I think we ended up making an entire tail from scratch in one night at my room.
On the second day it was something of a repeat of the first one, while I went to some more panels and met some more great furfriends I did end up in my room a lot. Towards the evening when the parties were starting up I had pretty much decided to just leave the suit unfinished and do it the next morning, fix it then. People were starting to drink a bit and have fun but fortunately a mr chamafox convinced me that I should go back and finish it, since it was so close to being done. Altough when I got there I found that there were more stitches that had not been finished than I thought, and the entire thing took longer than expected, into some midnight before I was done. But a friendly lion leo hopped by to visit me in my room which I Thought was incredibly sweet of him, and he kept me some company while I finished up the back of the suit. Altough to horror I found that something had gone wrong in the sewing and there was a huge hole in my neck/throat, but by chance a Darkey came by at that time too and borrowed me his scarf which I could tie around my neck. At first it was just a quick patch solution but after seeing how it looked on me I really grew quite attached to it and made it part of the suit. Two friends apparently bought it for me from darky later which was very sweet of them.
And then I finally got to suit, right around midnight. The response was wonderful, I really am not used to that much positive attention. I guess if you've suited you already know what its like, and it was very fun to share. Over the following days I got more and more accustomed to the suit. After participating in the fursuit games at the con I felt like climbing out of it. The games I failed at prety spectacularily XD Not only was I unaccustomed to moving in the suit, but also in figuring out how to get my vision working in it. But it was fun.
But by the last day I had bonded with it and proceeded to suit for a good nine hours in a row, the dead dog party being one of the most fun I have ever been to (and in my oppinion the best party of the con, but I am heavily biased in that I did not attend the other ones much XD). By then people were helping me to drinks and the live dj was doing a great job, people were dancing along to the music in the common room, and I managed a whole lot more dancing in my suit than I could have imagined on the first days. After a while it really just feels like a second much warmer skin.
And the conga-line was hilarious XD
I also got to hang out and chat with some of the other suiters, both ones I hadn't seen before and ones i've admired for a good long while.
Aah, but there were so many people that I met this time, and sorry if I couldn't spend time with the ones I wanted to spend more time with, the con ended up so busy every single moment for me. And sorry if I couldn't/cant quite remember you yet if we met, my vision in the suit is not aided by not being able to wear my glasses and maybe not even getting a really good view of everyone XD
I also would have liked to attend some of the room parties, but when they were going on I was probably either sewing or hanging out with someone in more private somewhere, heh. Maybe next year. But at least the last night had a similiar atmosphere to how those room parties get when they are good, as the crowd of people left at the con got smaller and more intimate.
And a big thanks to Xzeria who stayed by my side much of the con and helped me out a ton in getting used to my suit and helping me out with all those little things like water and making sure it was sitting correct, and helping me get to places as well as finishing the suit. You are a great friend.
Was the convention as good as the first one? Yes, it was probably better. A lot of little things was learned from the past and things went smoothly and nice. And the staff at the hotel was incredible as ever, even moved to tears at the closing ceremonies. I am really sad to hear that the next years convention will not be held in the same location.
Did I enjoy it was much as the first one? No. But it is only by the smallest of margins, because of missing out on a bunch of it for my suit. But it was made up for it by getting my suit up, and I really enjoyed my time.
So many more little things that happened and come to mind but I think Ill end this rambling here, haha. See you all at NFC 2015.
Oh and the guest of honor was a Bryan Talbot. After being at his panels and speaking to him a little I have such greater respect for the man. Really a masterful comicbook artist.

...and I guess you and everyone else saw how much I love that.
And you're welcome! Not that I personally helped much with the suit. I haven't sewn since I was ten, it was a fun experience even if I was crap at it.
