Anyone ever washed a Webkinz before?

I sleep with one and he currently smells like dog since my dog steals my blankets/lays on him. The tag says "surface wash only" but would it hurt to put him in the washer on a delicate cycle or something?
And yes, I'm 21 years old and sleep with a stuffed animal.
