You might say I'm overhauling my lifestyle in a similar way.
Starting as of ... last month (30th of Nov 2008) I'm putting forward the ambitious goal of making myself a better person in all aspects.
This proposed plan will have an expected completion date on new years eve of 2013 and is as follows.
Objective1
31/12/2008 - Advertise and become 'known' in the furry fandom as a near professional quality 3D artist- Get as many commissions as possible.
This will be achieve by increasing my presence on furry social forums as well as IRCs. The goal is achieved when I've aquired appoximately 10 commissions before the end of 2008.
Secondary Objective - Get into shape, or at least develope strict excercise regime for longterm goal.
Objective2
1/3/2009- Aquire and familiarise with Autocad software.
Goal is achieve when I am able to model on Autocad as proficiently as I could with maya. Bonus points for becoming proficient with 3DsMax at this stage
Objective3
1/6/2009 - Use whatever monies earned to aquire educational materials needed for Airframe&PowerPlant Certification. Familiarise with material to the point of being semi-educated
Goal is achieved when I can pass online FAA sample tests with reasonable proficiency.
Objective4
1/9/2009 - Aquire and familiarise with 3DsMax to the level of proficiency as maya. Use credentials to impress 3D graphics firms.
Objective5
31/12/2009 - Be employed in some shape way or form by a commercial 3D graphics firm, preferbly something like Microforte' or equivalent and work as a part-time student/employee.
Income is negotiable.
Objective6
31/12/2010 - Complete Bachelors of VisualArts digital arts major 1 year ahead of schedual, through either exceptional achievement or accellerated coursework.
Objective7
1/6/2011 - Use earned income for official Airframe&PowerPlant certification seminars.
Objective8
31/13/2011 - Complete Masters of VisualArt digital arts major and graduate from university.
Objective9
1/6/2012 - Attempt exams for A&PP certificate 2 years ahead of schedual. This will only be possible due to 2 years of practicing with sample questions and studying material unofficially.
Objective10
1/9/2012 - Attempt to aquire US citizenship provided it is not mutually exclusive with Australian citizenship.
Objective11
31/12/2012 - Intensive study for Pilot's licence for various aircraft.
Aquire all licenses before the end of 2013
- Possibly attempt Light Airframe Specialist certification By 2013
Objective12
6/12/2012 - Find industrial design based job that requires extensive knowlegde of preferably CAD, Aviation or both.
Then work my ass off at it.

indefinate - Get employed by any Defense contractor.
Objective14
31/12/2013 - Meet Herro in person and shove credentials in her face. Then say "HA! my dick is bigger than yours!"

I found that I had tons of spare time, so much so, that I wound up not taking the course seriously...
Now, for 2009, I won't goof off since the coursework will be hitting the nail on the head for once.
It's one reason why I under perform with 3d when doing furries. I mean hell, it's my specialty... but I don't want any company to find out about the fetish part...
Unlike you though I recently kinda gave up on getting in the 3d production industry via those means. Instead I'll finish my computer science degree and be known by the prospective employers as a programmer rather than an artist. This may make me more free as an artist. I don't know.
That said, I tried this many times. Your plans aren't going to turn out the way you'd hoped, though you may get some of them done.
Good luck tho.
I'll just keep all my hobbies hidden away from my professional life.
