Life has its odd twists and turns. You can dedicate your life something only to have it snatched away at the moment you are ready to take it. It could be a career, a dream, or even another person.

The hard fact is that the kind of person you are, whether or not its the one you let others see, has no bearing on what happens to you. The brilliant mind can suddenly suffer a massive head injury and spend the rest of his life barely putting audible or written language together wasting all the thoughts spinning in his head, being constantly frustrated at being alone with these thoughts where he might have defeated cancer, designed a new algorithm that ushered in a new age of information, even found a way to achieve world peace.

It doesn't even have to be a life changing accident, sometimes its pure fate. The perfect spouse/dating partner can end up the most lonely person in the world with many of his/her love interests as just friends if he/she is lucky enough to be allowed to stay that close to them. They can even fall in love with someone who touches their soul and who they know they touched only to have that person totally reject them without cause.

These kinds of things must be taken in stride or they will perish under the cannon of self slaughter. In fact all the stories like this one hears seems to happen to "perfect people". The ones who seem to have all the best qualities and no vices, who have a handle on life and know what the secrets to happiness are. But these things teach yet another lesson....it teaches us that even though there are things we want so badly we would give our lives for them, there are other things we have failed to appreciate.

Learn to appreciate everything!!! A beautiful moment, a sunset, a song, a smell, the complexity of the world in its entirety. And if you are lucky enough to have someone else to share it with....never forget that that is the most precious thing of all and let them know everyday how glad you are they can journey with you and that you do not have to journey with someone who hurts you, or even by yourself. Learn it, live it, and above all Love!
