I usually advise people againist toshibas. Simple because of their power jack design bad to get when breaks loose from case and slides inside case.

The compaq or asus. I use a Dell D630 for my el cheapo laptop.
They are older business laptops on ebay (2008) but eh I got a desktop if I want to game. Only thing be sure is if go that route it's an intel video the nvidia has issues/ a lawsuit due to those said issues.

HP's where bad to have video issue on DV2000-9000 models. So be sure to research the model laptop for issues like that. I don't care for pentium or celeron processors they are low level ones. A above 2Ghz typically runs windows 7 fine.
