Thinking of entering a cosplay contest...

I wasn't going to but my dad got me thinking about it. Honestly, I think he believes I can succeed at this art thing way more than I do and knowing that conventions have cosplay contests, he keeps thinking that I should enter them if I like making costumes.
A part of me wants to start off small, but another part is like..."well if I work really hard on something I could completely make something structurally sound and gorgeous for a large scale contest". C2E2's having this massive cosplay contest complete with cash prizes, and while that deters a lot of the "cosplay should be for fun!" crowd, that totally peaks my interest. While I don't think I could win anything big, I think that if I put my mind to it and picked a great character and made something insanely sound, that I could place in whatever category I enter in...
Problem is I'd have to register by tomorrow and would have to come up with a character to make like...today. XD It wouldn't be the first time I randomly decided to make a costume on a whim, but it would be pretty short notice. D:
I dunno...on one hand, it's another piece to add to the portfolio, it's good practice, it would be a good experience...on the other, I'm just really unsure about it. But then again, I'm unsure about a lot of things that would technically be good for me and end up missing out on experiences and regretting it so...^^;

I think I'm interested more in the experience. The cash prizes are so large that I think the contest would draw some major competition. I'd have no chance of winning anyways. XD Also it would be amazing getting my work judged by professional craftsman. I don't know if they give critique like-feedback, but that would be pretty good if they did since I'd probably need it. ^^;
The contests I entered most times did do critique in their judging which I also really liked, it helped me improve every year! And with as big as this one sounds, im sure they will be doing that. But yeah, win or not, going up on stage is a great experience that I can recommend! =]
Heck, apparently you have to apply online first so I might not even make the cut, but meh. I guess it's worth a shot. ^^;

I think I might go for it. I have until tomorrow to figure it out regardless. XD
Just 'cause in order for it to be a complete costume...I don't think a partial suit would count here. ^^;
I'll either make that or this one bat-dragon pokemon. I can't decide which one. ^^;
Speaking of which, would you wanna go with me to C2E2 that Saturday? I'm only gonna go for the day of the contest regardless of if they accept my entry or not. I've never been there so it should be interesting. ^^;
